Georges St-Pierre‘s first shot at a UFC welterweight title ended in disappointment. In the second, though, he got his revenge on Matt Hughes and solidified his standing as one of the world’s top welterweights.
Check out St-Pierre and Hughes’ second clash at UFC 65, which took place in 2006 in California, above.
In the duo’s first meeting, Hughes, the UFC’s longtime 170-pound champ, reclaimed the title that B.J. Penn has from him and then later vacated. St-Pierre, then tabbed a can’t-miss prospect, controlled the early action, but Hughes cinched up a fight-ending armbar with one second remaining in the first round.
Check out their second meeting above.
And catch St-Pierre (24-2 MMA, 18-2 UFC) back in action on Nov. 16, when he meets top contender Johny Hendricks (15-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) in UFC 167's pay-per-view headliner.
