Video: Emanuel Newton talks 'King Mo' wins, Bellator 113 rematch with Vegh

Emanuel Newton has a score to settle on Friday night.

Newton (22-7-1 MMA, 5-1 BMMA), Bellator’s interim light heavyweight champion, will face champion Attila Vegh (29-4-2 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) to unify the belts on Friday at Bellator 113.

The run Newton has been on since his only loss in more than four years has been impressive. He dropped a split decision to Vegh in July 2012. But after that, he really put himself on the map when he upset Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal with a spinning back fist. Then he beat Mikhail Zayats to win the Season 8 205-pound tournament.

With Vegh shelved with an injury, Newton got the chance to silence any doubters in November when he again beat Newton, taking him the distance in a five-round unanimous decision win to claim the interim belt.

“I think everything fell into place last year for me and my career because it’s my time,” Newton told MMAjunkie. “Spiritually, mentally, physically, I’m ready to compete with the best and be the best and beat the best. I’m just getting ready to turn 30 and I’m hitting my prime and I’m ready to go.”

Hear what Newton had to say about beating “King Mo” twice and about his upcoming matchup with Vegh in Friday’s main event.

Then don’t miss Bellator 113, which takes place at Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kan., with a main event on Spike TV.
