UPDATED: UFC 160 Velasquez vs. Bigfoot 2 Weigh-in Results; Two Fighters Miss Weight

Cain Velasquez vs Bigfoot Silva UFC 160 PreThe UFC 160 fighters on Friday stepped on the scale in Las Vegas to make their bouts official with special guest and former world boxing champion Mike Tyson accompanying UFC president Dana White on the stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, just one fight and one year to the day removed from dismantling Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, finds himself in a rematch with the six-foot-four-inch big man from Brazil. Bigfoot earned his return shot with back-to-back victories over Travis Browne and Alistair Overeem.

The co-main event features two more heavyweights in former champion Junior dos Santos and resurgent New Zealander Mark Hunt.

The UFC champ – to thunderous applause – weighed in at 240 pounds, but does not underestimate his 263-pound foe.

“Bigfoot is dangerous, not taking him lightly at all,” said Velasquez. “This means everything to me, holding the belt, keeping the belt here.”

“I’m very excited to fight tomorrow,” Silva stated. “I’m ready for this fight. I train a lot. I want to win this belt, for sure.”

Although he had some travel troubles, Hunt finally made it to Las Vegas, tipping the scale at 264 pounds for his bout with dos Santos, who weighed 239 pounds.

Two preliminary bout fighters, however, came in overweight.

Khabib Nurmagomedov was 2.5 pounds over his allotted limit of 156 pounds for a lightweight tilt with Abel Trujillo. Nurmagomedov shoved Trujillo when they squared off, leaving White looking upset… not a good idea when missing the mark.

Nah-Shon Burrell, who squares off with Stephen Thompson in a welterweight contest, was over the mark by 1 pound.

Nurmagomedov and Burrell were each given two hours to lose the excess baggage.

UPDATE: UFC officials later confirmed that Nurmagomedov declined to try and make weight. The fight will still take place, but Nurmagomedov was fined 20-percent of his fight purse, 10-percent of which goes to his opponent and the other 10-percent to the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Burrell weighed in at 171 pounds on his second attempt.
