UFC on Fuel TV 4 Fighter Bonuses to the Tune of $40,000 Each

The UFC landed at the home of Strikeforce on Wednesday, the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

The turnout for the event was light, but the fighters at UFC on Fuel TV 4: Munoz vs. Weidman delivered some heavy thunder, giving UFC officials numerous choices for the post-fight bonuses.

The co-main event fighters, James Te Huna and Joey Beltran, scored the Fight of the Night bonus, each taking home an additional $40,000 for their efforts.

The fight looked like it might end in the opening round, Te Huna dropping Beltran and unloading a barrage of punches on him, but the former heavyweight weathered the storm and even dished out a fair amount of his own thunder late in the fight. Te Huna, however scored the unanimous decision victory.

The Knockout of the Night was an easy win, going to the “Elbow from Hell” from Chris Weidman. While many gave him ample chance to win the fight coming in, almost no one felt that Weidman would dominate the way he did.

He planted Mark Munoz on the mat and kept him there the entire opening round. In the second stanza, Munoz came rushing in and Weidman unleashed the elbow that put Munoz out and on the mat. Weidman then had to follow Munoz down and finish with numerous punches since the referee failed to step in and call a halt to the bout until he did so.

Alex Caceres pulled off an impressive Submission of the Night performance after being dominated for the better part of the fight by Damacio Page. Page put Caceres on the mat and grounded and pounded him for the first six minutes of the fight, but Caceres was continually hunting for the triangle choke and landed it 1:27 into round two, earning the $40,000 bonus check.
