UFC on Fox 9 Medical Suspensions: Urijah Faber Heads Trio of Possible Six-Month Suspensions

Urijah-Faber-UFC-128_9887-450x260UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson retained his title on Saturday night at UFC on Fox 9: Johnson vs. Benavidez II, wielding the power that many thought a 125-pound man didn’t have in his hands. Johnson knocked out Joseph Benavidez little more than two minutes into the opening round of their fight, putting Benavidez on the UFC on Fox 9 medically suspended list.

Urijah Faber – although he won his fight by submitting Michael McDonald – landed what could be six-month suspension after he injured both hands in the fight.

Mac Danzig and Court McGee also face potential six-month suspensions for various concerns, while every fighter on the card received at least a mandatory seven-day rest period.

The California State Athletic Commission on Monday released the UFC on Fox 9 medical suspensions to MMAWeekly.com. UFC on Fox 9: Johnson vs. Benavidez II took place on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif.
