Round 5: Werdum quickly takes Werdum down to start the final round.  Browne gets to his feet and pushes Werdum away.  Browne lands a front kick to the body.  Werdum lands his jab.  Werdum steps into the pocket with two straight right hands.  Browne lands a hard outside leg kick.  Werdum looks to get the fight to the ground, but Browne stuffs the attempt.  Werdum doubles up on his jab and brings a right hand behind it.  Werdum lands a hard right hand.  And another one.  Two minutes remain in the fight.  Browne looks at the clock.  Werdum kicks him in the body.  Browne changes his stance and fires off two high kicks that are blocked.  Browne pressing forward.  Werdum tags Browne with a right hand.  Browne leaps in with a left hand.  Browne attempts a wheel kick but Werdum saw it coming and got out of the way.  Browne moves in and Werdum lands a right hand.  Werdum lands a left and the round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Werdum.  It was a one-sided fight.

The judges scored the fight for Werdum by unanimous decision.  The scorecards read 49-46, 50-45 and 50-45.

“This was the best fight of my career. I trained so hard for this one. I worked hard on every part of my game. Boxing, wrestling, jiu-jitsu, everything. I knew how good Travis was and I wanted to show everyone that I’m ready for the title shot.
