Maldonado goes to the body and Hollet counters with a right hand. He follows it up with a left hook. Maldonado presses Hollet against the cage. He lands right hands to the body followed by an uppercut. He continues to work the body of Hollet. Hollet turns him and lands a combination to the body. Maldonado answers with a combination. He presses Hollet against the fence and lands hooks to the body. Hollet moves away and moves in with a body shot. He presses Maldonado against the cage. Maldonado lands a left hand and Hollet backs out of the clinch. Maldonado taunts Hollet to move in. Hollet works for a takedown. Maldonado defends the attempt and lands punches to Hollet’s body. Maldonado batters Hollet’s body with punches. He goes upstairs to the head. The round ends. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Maldonado.
Round 3: Maldonado moves in and misses with a right hand. Hollet drops down for a single leg takedown. He gets it but Maldonado immediately gets back to his feet. He has Hollet against the cage landing to the body. Hollet lands a right hand. Maldonado hits himself in the chin showing it’s solid. Maldonado again gets Hollet against the cage and is putting on a dirty boxing clinic. He lands to the body over and over. He moves to the head. He lands a right hand. Maldonado lands a right hand that staggers Hollet. Maldonado has him against the cage and beating Hollet up. Hollet turns him and delivers a knee to the body before separating. The bod shots have taken their toll on Hollet. He has slowed considerably and is breathing heavily. He finds the energy to clinch and press Maldonado against the cage. Maldonado lands a left hand on the inside. The referee separates them. Hollet immediately closes the distance and they clinch. Maldonado secures a trip takedown. He lands a few shots and stands. The round ends. MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Maldonado.
The judges score the fight for Maldonado by unanimous decision. The scorecards read 29-27, 29-28, and 29-27.
