UFC on FX 2: Alves v. Kampmann Weigh-in Results

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Sydney, Australia, this week for UFC on FX 2: Alves vs. Kampmann, which takes place Saturday, March 3, at the Allphones Arena, but airs on television in the United States and Canada on Friday, March 2, due to the time difference.

Main eventers Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann have long lingered at the top of the welterweight division, and this fight promises to move one of them one step closer to a title shot. Two fighters will also move on from the UFC flyweight semifinals to determine the division’s first champion in a future event.

But first, they, and the rest of the UFC on FX 2 roster have to make weight.

Despite facing a few trials and tribulations making weight in the past, now under the watchful eye of nutrition specialist Mike Dolce, Thiago Alves had no trouble on the scale. He weighed in at 170.5 pounds, as did his opponent, Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann.

Knowing the importance of the flyweight tournament, none of the four competitors had an issue hitting the mark, either. In fact, all four tipped the scale at 125.5 pounds.

“Yeah, it wasn’t too bad,” Joseph Benavidez, one of the flyweight contenders, said of his weight cut, his first down to 125 pounds. “I actually feel better right now than I do at 135.”
