UFC on FUEL TV 10 results: Daniel Sarafian powers past Eddie Mendez with choke

FORTALEZA, BRAZIL – In just his second UFC bout, Daniel Sarafian fought like he had dinner reservations he didn’t want to miss.

After quickly taking Eddie Mendez to the mat, Sarafian wasted no time in locking up an arm-triangle choke from mount for the submission victory.

The middleweight bout was part of today’s UFC on FUEL TV 10 event at Paulo Sarasate Arena in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil. It aired on FUEL TV following prelims on Facebook.

Sarafian began setting up the choke soon after the fight hit the mat, then moved from half-guard to mount to finish it off. Mendez soon found himself stuck, and had no choice but to tap to the former “TUF: Brazil” competitor.

“I’m feeling content because I know how hard I train, how much I dedicated myself daily,” Sarafian said. “Sometimes we’re tired, we don’t sleep well and we still push through. This win is priceless. I did my part, and there you have it. Last time, I didn’t come out with a win, but I was at peace because I knew I had performed to the best of my abilities and this is what’s important, really.”

Sarafian (8-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) wins his first official UFC bout after losing a split decision to CB Dollaway in January. Mendez (7-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) drops his second bout in his last four attempts.
