UFC on FOX 17 weigh-in highlights: Watch Cole Miller and Jim Alers awaken the Force

ORLANDO, Fla. – Friday’s weigh-ins for the UFC’s final event of the calendar year had a little bit of everything, from dust-ups to confusion over missed weight to lightsabers.

How can you ask for anything more in the holiday season?!?

As expected, UFC on FOX 17 main event lightweights Nate Diaz (17-10 MMA, 12-8 UFC) and Michael Johnson (16-9 MMA, 8-5 UFC) had to be held back from each other after their altercation at the host hotel earlier today.

And for the third time in eight fights, Charles Oliveira (20-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) had trouble with the scale – this time for his featherweight fight against Myles Jury (15-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC), who is making his debut in the division.

But the biggest highlight may have been Jim Alers (13-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Cole Miller (21-9 MMA, 9-7 UFC) getting in the spirit of today’s official release of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The featherweights came armed with toy lightsabers to engage in a mock duel on stage after hitting their marks.

UFC on FOX 17 takes place Saturday at Amway Center in Orlando, Fla. The main card airs on FOX following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. In the main event, Rafael dos Anjos (24-7 MMA, 13-5 UFC) defends his lightweight title for the first time when he meets Donald Cerrone (28-6 MMA, 15-3 UFC) in a rematch. And in the co-feature, former heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos (17-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) takes on Alistair Overeem (39-14 MMA, 4-3 UFC).
