UFC champ Jon Jones tweets at Gustafsson: 'Not impressed Alex' – then pulls it down

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is back on Twitter. Brace yourself.

Just a few weeks removed from rehab, Jones, 27, was at it again Saturday night during UFC on FOX 14, tweeting and deleting a particularly cruel message.

“Not impressed Alex,” wrote Jones, referring to onetime opponent Alexander Gustafsson’s TKO loss to Anthony Johnson (19-4 MMA, 10-4 UFC) at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena.

Gustafsson (16-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC), 28, cried as the official result was announced. With Johnson’s win, he lost a definitive chance at a rematch with Jones, who later said the Swede gave him his toughest fight to date.

Johnson expressed sympathy for Gustafsson, telling UFC commentator Joe Rogan, “I’m an emotional guy, so I feel his pain.”

Apparently not so for Jones, who denied Gustafsson a rematch immediately following UFC 165 and then hedged on it again during contract re-negotiations.

The two were scheduled to fight this past September at UFC 178, but an injury to Gustafsson postponed the fight to UFC 182. Daniel Cormier took his place.

After a brawl between Jones and Cormier that drew headlines around the sporting world, the UFC kept the matchup intact and booked Gustafsson vs. Johnson as a title eliminator.

Now, Johnson will fight Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC) sometime later this year. Jones, who tested positive for cocaine metabolites prior to his UFC 182 title fight with Cormier (15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), but not announced until after his win, spent one day in rehab and was fined $25,000 by the UFC for violating its code of conduct.

And Gustafsson wasn’t Jones’ only target. Before writing about Gustafsson, he mocked Phil “Mr. Wonderful” Davis, a would-be opponent who lost a split call to Ryan Bader on UFC on FOX 14’s main card.

“Wonderful? I think it’s time for a new nickname.”

As for Jones, it’s the same old stuff.
