UFC president Dana White on Thursday made the unfortunate announcement that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has had to withdraw from the main event of UFC 131, suffering from another bout with diverticulitis.
Lesnar was originally slated to face fellow TUF 13 coach Junior dos Santos in the headliner bout in Vancouver with the winner getting a shot at current heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.
Former UFC interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin has agreed to take Lesnar’s place in the fight on short notice. The winner between Carwin and dos Santos will still receive a title shot.
