UFC Flyweight Ian McCall Arrested for June Charge of Driving with Suspended License

UFC flyweight Ian McCall was arrested on Tuesday in relation to a June charge of driving with a suspended license.

Sherdog.com confirmed the news on Friday with McCall’s manager, Jason House of Iridium Sports Agency. Word of McCall’s arrest first came from StuNewsLaguna.com, though that report stated that McCall had been “arrested without incident for two Harbor Court warrants for possession of narcotic paraphernalia, possession of prescription meds without a valid prescription and driving on a suspended license.”

House told Sherdog.com that the charges listed in that report are inaccurate, and the Superior Court of California County of Orange website confirms that McCall has only been charged with driving with a suspended license. Though arrested by Laguna Beach police, McCall was recently moved to the Orange County Central Men’s Jail and entered a plea of not guilty on Thursday, according to the Superior Court’s website. The fighter is scheduled to appear in court for his pre-trial hearing on Sept. 13.

McCall, 28, joined the UFC this spring after winning the Tachi Palace Fights flyweight title just over one year ago. “Uncle Creepy” made his Octagon debut at UFC on FX 2, fighting Demetrious Johnson to a majority draw in the semifinals of the Las Vegas-based promotion’s inaugural flyweight title tournament. The pair would rematch three months later at UFC on FX 3, but this time Johnson would emerge the victor, taking a unanimous decision from McCall to advance to the championship final.
