Francisco Trinaldo did plenty of damage to Paul Felder in the cage. However, it was the ringside physician who brought the stoppage.
The lightweight bout was part of the main card of the UFC Fight Night 95 event at Nilson Nelson Gymnasium in the Brazilian capital of Brasilia. It aired on FS1 following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
An elbow from Trinaldo (21-4 MMA, 11-3 UFC) in the second round opened a nasty cut above the right eye of Felder (12-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC). Felder fought through the cut as well as he was able. However, in Round 3, with Felder’s face covered in blood, the referee asked the ringside doctor to inspect what had become a massive tear in the skin.
The ringside physician called off the bout at the 2:25 mark of Round 3, awarding Trinaldo the TKO victory.
