UFC Fight Night 85 results: Steve Bosse obliterates James Te Huna with 1-punch KO

BRISBANE, Australia – After a disastrous UFC debut that was over almost as soon as it started, Steve Bosse used his second UFC fight to find out what the other side of a quick knockout finish feels like, much to the dismay of James Te Huna.

A right hand from Bosse (11-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) at the end of a quick combo caught Te Huna (16-9 MMA, 5-5 UFC) coming forward with his hands down, resulting in a knockout finish just 52 seconds into the first round.

The middleweight bout was part of today’s UFC Fight Night 85 main card at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on the same channel and UFC Fight Pass.

It was hardly a secret that Bosse would look to land his heavy right hand early and often, and Te Huna seemed on his guard when that punch came his way in the opening seconds of the fight. But after weathering a short combo from Bosse, Te Huna got a little over eager to come back with some offense of his own, which is when he marched straight into trouble.

As Te Huna came forward with his left hand hovering near his waist, Bosse’s right connected cleanly to the chin, dropping Te Huna straight down. Te Huna then sat up as if he might recover and fight on, even as Bosse stood above him, not following up on the attack but merely standing and yelling at his downed foe.

As it turned out, Te Huna wasn’t as recovered as he might have initially seemed, and he soon pitched forward onto his face without Bosse ever landing another punch. That was all referee Marc Goddard needed to see, and he jumped into stop it less than a minute into the fight, handing Bosse the knockout victory.

The win is Bosse’s first since suffering a brutal knockout via head kick in his UFC debut last June. Te Huna has now lost four straight.
