UFC Fight Night 85 post-fight facts: Magny's beatdown was one for record books


Australian fight fans were treated to another memorable UFC showcase when UFC Fight Night 85 took place Saturday at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

In the FOX Sports 1-televised main event, Mark Hunt (12-10-1 MMA, 7-4-1 UFC) picked up yet another highlight-reel finish when he dropped former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir (18-11 MMA, 16-11 UFC) with a one-shot knockout in the first round.

Hunt was awarded his sixth fight-night bonus for a UFC heavyweight bout and tied Travis Browne and Roy Nelson for most bonuses in divisional history.

Mir fell to 2-6 in his past eight UFC appearances.

Mir has suffered eight of his 11 career losses by knockout. He’s suffered six of those stoppages in the first round.

Hector Lombard (34-5-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) fell to 2-1 with one no-contest since he dropped to the UFC welterweight division in October 2013.

Lombard suffered the first stoppage loss of his more than 11-year career.

Lombard suffered the first knockout loss of his career.

Matthews (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) has earned all four of his UFC victories by stoppage.

Case (22-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC) had his 12-fight winning streak snapped for his first defat since October 2010.

Case suffered his first submission loss since Oct. 22, 2010 – a span of 1,975 days (more than five years) and 13 fights.

Antonio Carlos Junior (5-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) fell to 1-1 with one no-contest since he dropped to the UFC middleweight division in June.

Carlos Junior suffered the first knockout loss of his career.

Steve Bosse (11-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has earned 10 of his 11 career victories by stoppage.

James Te Huna (16-9 MMA, 5-5 UFC) suffered his fourth consecutive loss to extend the longest skid of his career. He hasn’t earned a victory since February 2013.

Te Huna fell to 0-2 since he dropped to the UFC middleweight division in June 2014.

Te Huna has suffered all nine of his career losses by stoppage.

Rawlings’ two-fight UFC winning streak in women’s strawweight competition is tied for the third longest active streak in the division behind Joanna Jedrzejczyk (five) and Tecia Torres (three).

Seo Hee Ham (16-7 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has suffered both of her UFC losses by decision.

Brendan O’Reilly (6-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) suffered the first knockout loss of his career.

Dan Hooker (13-6 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has earned 12 of his 13 career victories by stoppage. He’s earned nine of those finishes in the first round.

Hooker has earned all three of his UFC victories by stoppage.

Mark Eddiva (6-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC) suffered his third consecutive loss to extend the longest skid of his career.

Eddiva suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Leslie Smith

Leslie Smith

Leslie Smith (8-6-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) returned to competition from a career-long layoff and earned her first victory since July 2014.

Rin Nakai (16-2-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC) suffered her second consecutive loss after starting her career on a 17-fight unbeaten streak.

Nakai has suffered both of her career losses by decision.

Ross Pearson (19-10 MMA, 11-7 UFC) improved to 6-4 with one no-contest since he returned to the UFC lightweight division in December 2012.

Pearson has alternated wins and losses over his past eight UFC appearances.

Chad Laprise (10-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) suffered his second consecutive loss after starting his career on a 10-fight winning streak.

Laprise suffered the first decision loss of his career.
