UFC Fight Night 84 Weigh-in Results: Michael Bisping Gets in Anderson Silva’s Face

UFC Fight Night 84 Weigh-in Results: Michael Bisping Gets in Anderson Silva’s Face

The UFC Fight Night 84 headliner is a fight that has been years in the making. Michael Bisping has long wanted it, and so has Anderson Silva. Following Friday’s weigh-in event in London, the Silva vs. Bisping five-round middleweight clash will finally happen.

Silva (33-6, 1 NC) is returning to the Octagon, looking to put the past couple years of strife behind him. He lost his UFC middleweight championship to Chris Weidman in the summer of 2013. A few months later, he suffered a horrific broken leg. A year later, Silva returned and defeated Nick Diaz, only to test positive for steroids.

Now, after serving a 12-month suspension for his anti-doping policy violations, Silva climbs back in the cage at 40 years of age, ready to prove that he hasn’t lost a step.

Anderson Silva vs Michael BispingAlways the bride’s maid and never the bride, Bisping (27-7) has been chomping at the bit to fight Silva for the better part of his career, albeit he would rather have fought Silva when the Brazilian held the belt.

Having alternated between wins and losses for the past few years, Bisping is currently the owner of back-to-back victories and would like nothing more than to add Silva to his hit list, as it would surely go a long way towards putting him into title contention.

After making weight, Silva and Bisping literally went forehead to forehead as they squared off for photographers. Bisping was immediately in Silva’s face, heatedly saying something, Silva just shaking his head in return, as UFC president Dana White stepped in to separate them.

Silva was fairly calm afterward, saying in a brief interview that he believes he’s got another title run in him. “I think so. I go working hard for this one. I think this fight is good for me, it’s good for Bisping. Let’s go. Let’s go.”

Bisping, however, was quite worked up, thanking the crowd before targeting Silva for his anti-doping infractions. “This man is a cheat. This man is a fraud. I will make you pay for your mistakes tomorrow night my friend. All the needles in your ass. All the steroids will not help you, you (expletive)!”
