'UFC Fight Night 83: Cowboy vs. Oliveira' lineup finalized with 14 bouts

The lineup is set for this month’s “UFC Fight Night 83: Cowboy vs. Oliveira” event, and the show features 14 total bouts.

UFC Fight Night 83 takes place Feb. 21 at Pittsburgh’s CONSOL Energy Center. The card airs on FOX Sports 1 following four early prelims on UFC Fight Pass.

As reported earlier this week, the headliner recently underwent a change when Tim Means (25-7-1 MMA, 8-4 UFC) was forced off the card due to a potential USADA drug-testing violation. Recent lightweight title challenger Donald Cerrone (28-7 MMA, 15-4 UFC), who’s currently No. 7 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings but who’s moving up to welterweight, is now slated to fight 170-pounder Alex Oliveira (14-2-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) for a “Cowboy” vs. “Cowboy” featured attraction.

In the middleweight co-headliner, No. 14-ranked Derek Brunson (14-3 MMA, 5-1 UFC) looks for his fourth straight win when he meets Roan Carneiro (20-9 MMA, 3-3 UFC), who’s won six straight, which included a successful return to the UFC with a submission victory over Mark Munoz. However, an elbow injury has kept him on the sidelines for the past year.

Rounding out the main card are honorable mention bantamweight John Lineker (26-7 MMA, 7-2 UFC) vs. Cody Garbrandt (7-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC), No. 12 featherweight Dennis Bermudez (14-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri (35-8-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC), welterweights Siyar Bahadurzada (21-6-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) vs. Brandon Thatch (11-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC), and lightweights Shane Campbell (12-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) vs. James Krause (22-7 MMA, 3-3 UFC).

Closing out the FOX Sports 1 prelims are welterweights Alex Garcia (13-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and Sean Strickland (16-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC), and women’s bantamweights Ashlee Evans-Smith (3-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Marion Reneau (6-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) close out the UFC Fight Pass prelims.
