UFC Fight Night 76 results: Norman Parke outworks Reza Madadi in grinder

DUBLIN – The heated rivalry between Norman Parke and Reza Madadi didn’t quite translate into a ferocious fight inside the cage.

But Parke (21-4-1 MMA, 5-2-1 UFC) managed to shut down the grappling game of Madadi (13-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) en route to a unanimous decision victory (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) in a workmanlike effort.

The lightweight bout was the co-main event of today’s UFC Fight Night 76 event at 3Arena in Dublin. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

Madadi seemed just as fired up at the start of the fight as he was at Friday’s weigh-in, but expending that much emotional energy before the bout may have hampered his performance in it. Though he tried again and again, he was unable to get Parke to the floor for any considerable length of time. The more Madadi pursued Parke, the more punches he ate in the process.

But while Parke stayed busy, he wasn’t able to hurt Madadi with any of his strikes, and seemed constantly aware of the threat of the takedown. As the fight wore on, both men slowed and showed signs of fatigue, but it was Parke who managed to dictate where the fight took place, which ultimately was what won him the decision.

With the win, Parke snaps a two-fight losing streak. Madadi has now lost two of his last three.
