UFC Fight Night 76 results: Garreth McLellan stops Bubba Bush with two seconds left

DUBLIN – In a fight between Bubba Bush and Garreth McLellan, two muscled middleweights looking to rebound from debut setbacks, oxygen was a precious commodity over three rounds.

McLellan (13-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had more of it, pulling ahead in the second round and pushing through the final seconds of the fight to pick up a last-second TKO over Bush (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC).

The middleweight bout opened up the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 76 event at 3Arena in Dublin. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

The fight was called off at the 4:58 mark of the final frame as McLellan pounded away at the grounded Bush, who was trapped by the fence and took several clean shots before getting saved.

McLellan had found the fight-winning position by outworking Bush. But his lead in the fight was also aided by a blatant foul he committed in the second round that was missed by referee Piotr Michalak. As Bush drove for a takedown, McLellan grabbed the fence and with its leverage took mount position. For the rest of the middle frame, he used top position to his advantage, grinding on Bush with heavy hips and ground and pound.

In the first, Bush was the dominant fighter, taking McLellan down and grinding away, though he didn’t do much damage and nearly exposed himself to several guillotine chokes.

After Bush’s first loss was overturned due to a positive steroid test, he suffers his first official loss. McLellan, meanwhile, gets his first UFC win after a debut setback against Bartosz Fabinski in April.
