UFC Fight Night 76 post-fight facts: Elkins moves up wins list, rare tie and more

Louis Smolka played spoiler in Ireland when he topped Dublin native Paddy Holohan by second-round submission in Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 76 main event.

After the 34th and 35th main or co-main event of the year fell apart due to injuries and other circumstances, Smolka (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) and Holohan (12-2-1 MMA, 3-2 UFC) were bumped to the event headliner. “Da Last Samurai” took advantage and finished the UFC Fight Pass-streamed fight at 3Arena in impressive fashion.

Neil Seery

Smolka vs. Holohan was just the second non-title flyweight main event in UFC history. Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall at UFC on FX 3 was the other.

Darren Till, Nicholas Dalby, Neil Seery and Tom Breese earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 76 fight-night bonuses.

No live gate or attendance was announced for the event.

Betting favorites went 6-3 on the card.

Total fight time for the 10-bout card was 2:07:56.

Louis Smolka

Smolka’s three-fight UFC winning streak in flyweight competition is tied for the third longest active streak in the division behind champ Demetrious Johnson (nine) and Joseph Benavidez (four).

Holohan suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Norman Parke (21-4-1 MMA, 5-2-1 UFC) has earned four of his five UFC victories by decision.

Reza Madadi (13-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has alternated wins and losses over his four-fight UFC career.

Madadi has suffered all four of his career losses by decision.

Darren Till (13-0-1 MMA, 1-0-1 UFC) vs. Nicolas Dalby (14-0-1 MMA, 1-0-1 UFC) was just the third UFC fight of 2015 to end in a draw.

Neil Seery (16-11 MMA, 3-2 UFC) earned the first stoppage victory of his UFC career.

Jon Delos Reyes (8-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has suffered all three of his UFC losses by stoppage.

Aisling Daly

Mickael Lebout (14-5-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has suffered both his UFC losses by decision.

Aisling Daly (16-6 MMA, 2-1 UFC) improved to 3-4 in her past seven pro bouts.

Daly earned her first decision victory since Nov. 27, 2010 – a span of 1,792 days (nearly five years) and 11 fights.

Ericka Almeida (7-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has suffered both of her career losses by decision.

Krzysztof Jotko (16-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has earned 10 of his 16 career wins by decision. That includes all three of his victories under the UFC banner.

Scott Askham (13-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has suffered both of his career losses by decision.

Tom Breese (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has earned all of his career victories by stoppage.

Breese has earned both of his UFC victories by knockout.

Cathal Pendred (17-4-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) suffered his first knockout loss since Dec. 4, 2010 – a span of 1,785 days (nearly five years) and 14 fights.

Darren Elkins and Robert Whiteford

Darren Elkins (19-4 MMA, 9-3 UFC) improved to 8-3 since he dropped to the UFC featherweight division in June 2011.

Elkins’ eight victories in UFC featherweight competition are tied for the second most in divisional history.

Elkins has earned seven of his nine UFC victories by decision.

Elkins’ 17 submission attempts in UFC featherweight competition are the most in divisional history.

Robert Whiteford (12-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of his career.

Garreth McLennan (13-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has earned 12 of his 13 career victories by stoppage.

McLennan earned his first knockout victory since May 10, 2010 – a span of 1,993 days (more than five years) and 12 fights.

Bubba Bush (8-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has suffered both his career stoppage losses by knockout.
