ADELAIDE, Australia – Anthony Perosh tends to get his business done in quick order when he’s in the 0ctagon.
Tonight did not go his way. Perosh (15-9 MMA, 5-6 UFC) was stopped in Round 1 by Sean O’Connell (17-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC).
The light heavyweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 65 event at Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass.
O’Connell landed a big flurry of punches shortly after the fight started. Perosh circled away but never really recovered. O’Connell followed him along the cage and opened up with another big flurry.
As the punches continued to come, Perosh did little beyond covering up. With Perosh no longer intelligently defending himself, the referee was forced to call a halt to the action and award O’Connell the TKO victory at the 0:56 mark of Round 1.
Perosh holds the third fastest KO in light heavyweight history, knocking out Vinny Magalhaes in 14 seconds. However, Perosh was on the losing end of the fastest KO in light heavyweight history, being knocked out in seven seconds by Ryan Jimmo.
O’Connell ran his winning streak to two with his victory over Perosh. In his previous bout, he stopped Matt Van Buren for a TKO victory. The back-to-back victories came after a two-fight losing skid when O’Connell signed with the UFC.
