UFC Fight Night 64 results: Leon Edwards needs only eight seconds to KO Seth Baczynski

KRAKOW, Poland – A couple left hands, eight seconds, and Leon Edwards had his first win in the UFC.

While Seth Baczynski got off to an aggressive start, it was Edwards (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) who made the the most efficient use of his time in the cage, dropping Baczynski (19-13 MMA, 5-6 UFC) with one straight left and then polishing him off with a few more on the mat to seal the first-round knockout victory.

The welterweight bout closed out the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 64 event at Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

Despite the significant edge Edwards was giving up in UFC experience against Baczynski, you couldn’t tell by his relaxed demeanor in this one. As Baczynski pressed forward right away, Edwards remained calm, looked his opening, then made the most of it with a sharp left hand counter that put Baczynski on his back just seconds into the fight.

From there, Edwards wasted no time following up, dropping to one knee to hammer Baczynski with two more left hands before standing up and walking off, effectively declaring the fight to be over before referee Grant Waterman could move in to call it off. Once Waterman got a close look at Baczynski, however, he concurred with Edwards’ assessment, waving the fight off just eight seconds into the first round.

For Edwards, the victory gets him back in the win column after he lost his UFC debut via split decision in November. Baczynski has now lost four of his last five.
