UFC Fight Night 58 post-fight facts: Dollaway ties record with zero main-event strikes

The UFC started its year with an event in Singapore, and on Saturday night, the organization closed out its 2014 calendar with UFC Fight Night 58 at Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Lyoto Machida (22-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) further elevated himself in the UFC record books when he recorded his sixth knockout inside the octagon, this time making “The Ultimate Fighter 7” runner-up C.B. Dollaway (16-5 MMA, 9-6 UFC) his victim in the night’s FOX Sports 1-televised headliner.

“The Dragon” wasn’t the only one to turn in a performance that placed him in the record books. Check below for 45 post-fight facts to come out of UFC Fight Night 58.

Machida, Renan Barao, Erick Silva and Vitor Miranda earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 58 fight-night bonuses.

Betting favorites went 10-2 on the card.

Total fight time for the 12-bout card was 1:41:49.

Main card

Lyoto Machida and C.B. Dollaway

Machida improved to 3-1 since he dropped to the UFC middleweight division in October 2013.

Machida’s 62-second victory was the fastest of his pro career.

Machida became the first fighter in UFC history to absorb zero strikes in two main event fights.

Machida landed the 13th knockdown of his UFC career and moved in to a tie with Melvin Guillard for the third most knockdowns in UFC history behind Anderson Silva (17) and Chuck Liddell (14).

Machida became the fifth fighter in UFC history to earn three or more knockout victories stemming from a kick. Vitor Belfort, Donald Cerrone, Edson Barboza and Daron Cruickshank are the others.

Machida has been awarded a fight-night bonus in all four of his UFC middleweight appearances.

Dollaway became the sixth fighter in UFC history to land zero strikes in a main event. Overall, Dollaway’s performance was the 100th in UFC history with zero strikes landed.

Dollaway has suffered four of his six UFC losses by stoppage. All but one of those finishes came in the first round.

Barao (33-2 MMA, 8-1 UFC) earned his 10th victory in UFC/WEC bantamweight competition and tied Dominick Cruz and Scott Jorgensen for the most wins in the combined history of the weight class. His eight victories in UFC bantamweight competition are tied with Urijah Faber for the most in divisional history.

Barao’s five stoppage victories in UFC bantamweight competition are tied with T.J. Dillashaw for the second most in divisional history behind Faber (six). His seven stoppage wins when including WEC competition are tied with Faber for the most in the combined history of the two organizations.

Barao’s four knockdowns landed in UFC bantamweight competition are tied for the third most in divisional history behind Dillashaw (five) and Michael McDonald (five).

Barao’s three submission victories in UFC bantamweight competition are tied for the second most in divisional history behind Faber (six). His five submission wins when including WEC competition are the second most in the combined history of the weight class behind Faber (seven).

Barao became the fifth fighter in UFC history to register two arm-triangle choke submission victories. Dan Severn, Eric Schafer, Rick Story and Francisco Trinaldo are the others.

Barao owns a 100 percent submission success rate in UFC competition. He has finished all three of his serious submission attempts inside the octagon.

Barao maintained his UFC-record 100 percent takedown-defense rate when he successfully defended all seven of his opponent attempts. He has stuffed 27 of 27 takedown attempts inside the octagon.

Barao was awarded the fifth fight-night bonus of his UFC career, which is tied with Brad Pickett for the most of any bantamweight in company history.

Mitch Gagnon (12-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) has suffered both of his UFC losses by submission.

Patrick Cummins’ (7-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) three-fight UFC winning streak is tied for the third longest active streak in the light-heavyweight division behind champion Jon Jones (11) and Fabio Maldonado (four).

Cummins earned the second decision victory of his career. Both of those wins have come in his past two fights.

Rashid Magomedov (18-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) extended his career-high winning streak to 11 fights. He has not suffered a defeat since April 2010.

Magomedov’s knockout victory at the 4:57 mark of Round 3 marked the latest finish ever in a three-round UFC fight. John Howard, who finished Dennis Hallman at the 4:55 mark at the TUF 10 Finale, held the previous record.

Magomedov earned his first knockout victory since Oct. 8, 2011 – a span of 1,169 days (more than three years) and six fights.

Elias Silverio (11-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) had his 11-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of his professional career.

Silva (17-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) has alternated wins and losses throughout his nine-fight UFC career.

Silva has earned all five of his UFC victories by first-round stoppage in a total fight time of 8:41.

Silva’s five first-round stoppage victories in UFC welterweight competition are tied with Anthony Johnson for the third most in divisional history behind Matt Hughes (six) and Josh Koscheck (six).

Mike Rhodes (6-4 MMA, 0-3 UFC) suffered his third consecutive loss, extending the longest losing streak of his career.

Daniel Sarafian (9-5 MMA, 2-3 UFC) was successful in his return to the UFC middleweight division.

Marcos Rogerio de Lima (13-2-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has earned both of his UFC victories by first-round knockout in a total fight time of 2:19.

Igor Pokrajac (25-12 MMA, 4-7 UFC) fell to 0-4 with one no-contest in his past five UFC bouts. He has not earned a victory since May 2012.

Renato Carneiro (9-0-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made his UFC debut on just nine days’ notice and maintained his undefeated streak with a submission victory.

Tom Niinimaki (21-8-1 MMA, 1-3 UFC) suffered his third consecutive loss, extending the longest losing skid of his career.

Niinimaki has suffered all three of his UFC losses by submission after going more than eight years without a submission defeat prior to joining the organization.

Hacran Dias (22-3-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) snapped the first two-fight losing streak of his career for his first victory since June 2012.

Dias has earned both of his UFC victories by decision.

Darren Elkins (18-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) suffered just the second decision loss of his career.

Elkins attempted his 15th submission in UFC featherweight competition, the most in divisional history.

Leandro Issa (13-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has earned both of his UFC victories by submission.

Yuta Sasaki (18-2-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) had his 12-fight unbeaten streak snapped for his first defeat since September 2011.

Sasaki suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Tim Means (22-6-1 MMA, 4-3 UFC) improved to 2-1 since he returned to the UFC for a second stint in May.

Marcio Alexandre Jr. (12-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of his career.

Miranda (10-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has earned nine of his 10 career victories by stoppage, with eight of those finishes coming in the first round.

Jake Collier (8-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered the first knockout loss of his career.
