UFC Fight Night 46 post-fight facts: Irish fighters take clean sweep

Expectations were high for the UFC’s return to Ireland, and when UFC Fight Night 46 wrapped up at Dublin’s The, the hype was met with a thrilling event.

Seven of the 10 bouts on the card ended by knockout or submission, with Conor McGregor (15-2 MMA, 3-0 UFC) scoring a first-round finish of Diego Brandao (18-10 MMA, 4-3 UFC) in the main event in front of nearly 10,000 rabid Irish supporters.

With the fights, gate, attendance and UFC Fight Pass streams, Saturday’s card was one of the most successful of the year for the organization. To dig into the numbers behind the event and some of the feats that took place, here are 30 post-fight facts about UFC Fight Night 46.

GENERAL

Irish-born fighters went 4-0 at the event.

McGregor, Gunnar Nelson, Cathal Pendred and Mike King earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 46 fight-night bonuses.

UFC Fight Night 46 drew an announced attendance of 9,500 for a live gate of $1.4 million.

Betting favorites went 8-2 on the card.

Total fight time for the 10-bout card was 1:26:27.

MAIN CARD

Brandao fell to 3-3 since winning “The Ultimate Fighter 14.”

Brandao has suffered six of his 10 professional defeats by knockout.

Nelson (13-0-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) has earned 11 of his 13 career victories by knockout or submission, 10 in the first round.

Nelson has earned three of his four UFC victories by submission.

Zak Cummings (17-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) suffered his first submission loss since Sept. 25, 2009 – a span of 1,758 days (nearly five years) and 10 fights.

Ian McCall (13-4-1 MMA, 2-2-1 UFC) has earned consecutive victories for the first time since 2011.

McCall has earned both of his UFC victories by decision.

Brad Pickett (24-9 MMA, 4-4 UFC) fell to 1-1 since dropping to the flyweight division.

Norman Parke (20-2-1 MMA, 4-0-1 UFC) earned the first stoppage victory of his UFC career. All of his previous octagon wins came by decision.

Naoyuki Kotani (33-11-7 MMA, 0-3 UFC) saw his career-high 13-fight winning streak come to an end.

Kotani suffered his first knockout loss since Sept. 8, 2007 – a span of 2,506 days (nearly seven years) and 22 fights.

PRELIMINARY CARD

Chris Dempsey (10-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered the first knockout loss of his career.

Phil Harris (22-12 MMA, 1-3 UFC) has recorded just one victory in his five UFC appearances.

Harris suffered his first decision loss since Feb. 29, 2004 – a span of 3,793 days (more than 10 years) and 32 fights.

Pendred (14-2-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) earned the first submission victory of his career.

King (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) had his five-fight winning streak snapped for the first defeat of his career.

Trevor Smith (12-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) earned just the second decision victory of his career.

Tor Troeng (16-6-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) suffered his first decision loss since March 15, 2008 – a span of 2,317 days (more than six years) and 16 fights.

Nikita Krylov (17-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has finished his opponent by knockout or submission in all 17 of his career victories.

Krylov has earned both of his UFC victories by first-round knockout.

Cody Donovan (8-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) extended his career-worst losing streak to three fights.

Donovan has suffered all five of his career losses by knockout.

Patrick Holohan (10-0-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) extended his undefeated streak to 11 fights.

Holohan has earned eight of his 10 career victories by submission.

Josh Sampo (11-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) suffered the first submission loss of his career.
