UFC Fight Night 45 'Fight Motion': Donald Cerrone's controversial kick in slow-mo

He got the win anyway, but Donald Cerrone may have gotten it earlier if it weren’t for a controversial timeout for an apparent low blow.

Now, thanks to FOX Sports’ latest “Fight Motion” highlights, we can get a better look at the kick.

This past Wednesday, July 16, in UFC Fight Night 45's headliner, Cerrone (24-6 MMA, 11-3 UFC) scored a second-round knockout of fellow lightweight Jim Miller (24-5 MMA, 13-4 UFC). But prior to the eventual fight-ending head kick, which aired on FOX Sports 1 from Atlantic City, Cerrone appeared to end the fight with a different kick.

Early in the second round, the bout was halted after Cerrone connected on a front kick to Miller’s midsection. And though replays ultimately showed the kick landed above the belt line, referee Dan Miragliotta ruled it a low blow and gave Miller time to recover.

Forced to make a split-second decision, Miragliotta went the cautious route and called for a timeout. However, as we can see in the super-slow-motion highlights above, the kick was clean.

Check out that highlight, and others from the card, in the video above.
