Round 4:  Machida’s corner tells him that he’s won every round, but the second round was extremely close.  They tell him to be careful with moving his head back.  They meet in the middle of the cage.  Machida circles.  He changes stances.  Mousasi changes levels and secures a takedown.  Machida quickly gets back to his feet.  Mousasi lands a kick to the inside of Machida’s lead leg. They exchange leg kicks.  Machida bouncing.  He moves in and throws Mousasi to the canvas.  Machida moves to side control.  Mousasi works his way back to half guard.  Mousasi sweeps Machida.  Machida isolates an arm.  He gives up on it  Mousasi works in Machida’s guard.  Mousasi delivers short shots to the body.  Mousasi postures up.  Machida rolls.  Mousasi tries to take his back but Machida flips him off his back.  Machida drops down to a knee and Mousasi lands an illegal up kick that landed flush on the face.  The fight is restarted in the same position.  The round ends.  Another close round.  MMAWeekly scores it 10-9 for Machida.

Round 5: They touch gloves to start the final round.  Mousasi lands an inside leg kick.  Machida rushes forward and misses with most of it.  Machida mixing it up.  Mousasi presses forward.  Machida steps in with a knee to the body.  Mousasi answers with a stiff jab.  Machida steps in with a knee.  He circles and Mousasi pursues him.  Mousasi lands a right hand.  Machida continues to circle.  Mousasi works for a takedown but Machida gains top position.  He works from the half guard position.  Mousasi active from the bottom with punches.  He tries to elevate Machida with butterfly guard, but Machida takes his back.  Mousasi tries to stand and shake Machida off his back, but Machida maintains back control.  Mousasi turns and gets out.  Machida lands a right h and and pounces on Mousasi.  The round ends.  MMAWeekly scores the round 10-9 for Machida.

The judges scored the fight for Machida by unanimous decision.  The scorecards read 49-46, 50-45 and 50-45.

“I always wanted to reach a KO or a submission. Mousasi is a very tough fighter and any detail can makes difference. I’m already thinking about the belt, but this is something that UFC has to decide”.
