UFC Fight Night 32 results: Adriano Martins dominant, submits Daron Cruickshank

GOIANIA, Brazil – If Adriano Martins suffered from any jitters heading into his first UFC bout, you sure couldn’t tell.

After making his way to the octagon with a smile, Martins battered Daron Cruickshank with left hands in the first round and then put him away with a straight armbar from half-guard in the second.

The lightweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 32 event at Goiania Arena in Goiania, Goias, Brazil. It streamed on MMAjunkie.com ahead of a main card on FOX Sports 1.

Martins had Cruickshank hurt early in the opening round after a left hand found its home on Cruickshank’s chin. It didn’t take long before Cruickshank opted to take his chances elsewhere, trying to force a takedown that only succeeded in giving up the top position to Martins, who zeroed in on the far-side arm from half-guard.

Cruickshank managed to defend the armbar at the end of the first, but Martins went right back to work on it in the second, eventually forcing the tap at the 2:49 mark of Round 2.

“It was great fighting with the crowd in my favor,” Martins said. “I am happy that everything worked out. It went even better than I expected. I fought a tough opponent. I want to thank everyone who came. We need that kind of positive energy.”

Martins (25-6 MMA, 1-0 UFC) improves his winning streak to six straight with the victory. Cruickshank (13-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has now lost two of his past three.
