Stomach issues aside, Derrick Lewis did the thing on Sunday night at UFC Fight Night 105.

"The Black Beast" survived the first round where his opponent, Travis Browne, looked quite good. Then his incredible raw power came into play and violently finished his adversary.

It puts Lewis on the radar as a title contender. How does the UFC address that?

Also in action, Johny Hendricks picked up his first win at middleweight while bantamweight contender Sara McMann made a statement to put her in line for a possible title shot. The Halifax crowd got a night full of fun fights and interesting results.

How does the UFC handle Lewis, McMann and all the rest? Mosey on this way for a look at all the matches to make following UFC Fight Night 105 in Halifax.

Paul Felder vs. Alessandrio Ricci

Paul Felder def. Alessandrio Ricci by TKO at 4:44 of the first round

You give Paul Felder a fighter who will stand and bang with him, and you'll get a similar result most of the time. Alessandrio Ricci played right into his hands.

Ricci falls to 0-2 in the UFC and could be let go in the UFC's deepest division. If he does get another chance, the UFC should simply match him up with a newcomer or vet who needs a favorable matchup. Either or. He's not a commodity fans are too interested in seeing.

Felder deserves another shot at a notable lightweight.

Bobby Green may have lost two straight, but his stature in the division fits the mold. The stylistic clash would serve UFC audiences well, and the winner would then garner top-15 consideration. It's one of the best fights they could find for Felder. And Green.

Sara McMann vs. Gina Mazany

Sara McMann def. Gina Mazany via submission (arm triangle) at 1:14 of the first round

The fight looked like a dramatic mismatch on paper, and that is exactly what it was.

McMann is just far, far too good for Mazany.

Mazany, unfortunately, doesn't look to be a significant threat for most in the division. She can still serve an important role in keeping others active. Irene Aldana is an intriguing prospect who lost her UFC debut as well. Match the two up and see what happens.

McMann, with her third straight win, is back in title contention. If that sounds odd then you haven't looked at the bantamweight title picture.

Amanda Nunes will most likely fight Valentina Shevchenko for the belt later this year. Who's next after that?

Ronda Rousey? Brutally defeated in two straight and possibly could be retiring. Julianna Pena? Just lost to Shevchenko. Holly Holm? Three straight losses. Cat Zingano? Two fight losing skid and hasn't won since 2014. The only two fighters in the top seven of the official UFC rankings coming off a win other than Shevchenko are McMann and Raquel Pennington.

A title eliminator seems to be at hand. McMann vs. Pennington with the winner getting a crack at gold is the best option the UFC has while its more marketable contenders are struggling.

Elias Theodorou vs. Cezar Ferreira

5 of 8

Elias Theodorou def. Cezar Ferreira by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)

The fight itself wasn't a barnburner or instant classic, but it was what both fighters needed. Even in a loss, Cezar Ferreira didn't come out looking too bad. They both got in solid Octagon time and gained experience.

Neither are top contenders and as such having a competitive battle will likely serve both well moving forward.

Magnus Cedenblad would be a good test for Ferreira, and a good matchup for the UFC.

Theodorou may be looking at someone in the top-15. Unfortunately, Sam Alvey and Thales Leites are booked against one another. That doesn't give Theodorou a solid option at a ranked opponent. Instead, name value may be key.

C.B. Dollaway is on a three-fight losing streak, but people still recognize his name. It would be a good chance for Dollaway to return in style while offering Theodorou a fighter fans know. A win-win for the UFC, but not the most exciting of options.

Gavin Tucker vs. Sam Sicilia

Gavin Tucker def. Sam Sicilia by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Welcome, Gavin Tucker.

Goodbye, Sam Sicilia.

Look, Sicilia looked awful and has lost three straight. Cut ties. Moving on.

Tucker performed very well in his debut and the Canadian crowd loved their local kid. All good signs for the UFC.

The important thing for the UFC is not to rush him up the ranks. Sure, he looked technically proficient, but this is a stacked division and he is a fun prospect. No one is served well by putting him against the upper echelon in quick order. The UFC can build him a bit even though he's 30-years-old.

As such, go off-script. Sign someone on the regional circuit who doesn't pose too much of a threat to Tucker. Let Tucker shine at least once more before gradually giving him stiffer competition.

Hector Lombard vs. Johny Hendricks

Johny Hendricks def. Hector Lombard by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Cut Hector Lombard. He can be fun to watch and he didn't perform terribly, but there is no doubt he comes at a premium. Also, he hasn't won a fight since 2014 and is no spring chicken at 39. The value on Lombard is just not there.

Hendricks was in a similar boat, but he got the win.

Unlike Gavin Tucker, the UFC should rush Hendricks as quickly as they can. Of the available ranked opponents two stand out: Derek Brunson and Uriah Hall.

Hall remains ranked in spite of losing three straight, but those losses may be a reason not to put Hendricks in there against him seeing as he just picked up a win. Brunson makes a little more sense given his outing against Anderson Silva.

It's a tough fight for both men and the winner moves into the thick of things at 185.

Derrick Lewis vs. Travis Browne

8 of 8

Derrick Browne def. Travis Browne by KO at 3:12 of the second round

The past two fights I've said cut the loser on a winning streak. I don't share that same opinion here.

The heavyweight division is very thing, but more importantly it's a division where odd things happen because of the crazy power they bring into the cage. Browne looked solid until getting clipped. He didn't perform terribly.

But he does need to fight someone outside of the top 10. It serves him and the UFC well to do that. Let Browne recover, train and return to fight Todd Duffee sometime in the summer.

Lewis, the self-proclaimed UFC interim heavyweight champion, stated in his Fox Sports 1 interview he wants to fight Mark Hunt next. On a pure enjoyment level, sign us all up for that. But I cannot co-sign officially. It's just not the right fight to make right this instant.

The UFC should tell Lewis to stay ready in case Junior dos Santos falls off the card for UFC 211 against champion Stipe Miocic. If JDS remains on the card, Lewis should still go to the event in his home state and step inside the cage to get nose-to-nose with whomever gets their hand raised.

Yes, Lewis should get the next title shot.

The bottom line? The UFC needs a fresh contender. Lewis is entertaining in the cage and on the mic. He'll help sell the fight. And he always puts on a show. While Fabricio Werdum may be more deserving, it's not a fight that enthuses fans right now. It's old hat. Lewis is a breath of fresh air.

Let's see Lewis try for real gold and not the plastic kind he had over his shoulder after UFC Fight Night 105.
