Kyle Noke’s final career outing was not a successful one. The Australian veteran was controlled on the mat by the stifling top game of Omari Akhmedov, resulting in a decision loss and Noke announcing his retirement.
The welterweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC Fight Night 101 event at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It aired on FS1 following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Akhmedov (16-4 MMA, 4-3 UFC) landed a big right hand early in the fight with Noke (22-10-1 MMA, 6-6 UFC), putting his opponent on the defensive early. He followed that up by putting Noke on his back for the first two rounds and grinding from inside guard.
By the end of the fight, there was no doubt who earned the decision. The judges agreed, handing Akhmedov the decision by scores of 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27.
