UFC Champion Ronda Rousey Joins Maxim’s ‘Hot 100’ List at No. 29

UFC 135-pound women’s champion Ronda Rousey will appear on Maxim’s annual “Hot 100” list.

Rousey ranked No. 29 on the new list, which is reportedly topped by Miley Cyrus, though the magazine has not yet officially announced anyone in the top 10. Other names on this year’s lineup include Katy Perry (No. 11), Taylor Swift (No. 13), Beyonce Knowles (No. 14) and Olivia Munn (No. 28).

The list was started in 2000 and is voted on by the magazine’s readership in an online poll. Last year, UFC Octagon girl Arianny Celeste was selected to appear in the “Hot 100” issue, coming in at No. 58.

Rousey, 29, has become the face of women’s MMA in the span of just two years, winning the Strikeforce bantamweight belt from Miesha Tate in 2012 and defending it successfully against Sarah Kaufman before joining the UFC, where she was immediately recognized as the promotion’s first women’s champion. “Rowdy” defended her new belt for the first time on Feb. 23, when she made Liz Carmouche her seventh consecutive opponent to fall via first-round armbar. The champion is now gearing up for a coaching stint on “TUF 18,” at the conclusion of which she will defend her belt against opposing coach Cat Zingano.

An Olympic bronze medalist in judo, Rousey made the cover of ESPN’s “Body Issue” last summer and was more recently selected as one of four cover athletes for the publication’s 15th anniversary issue. In addition to her inclusion on Maxim’s “Hot 100” list, Rousey was also ranked No. 42 on Business Insider’s list of “50 Women Who Are Changing the World.”
