UFC 207 preview: Get ready for the return of 'Rowdy' Ronda Rousey (remember her?)

She’s an Olympic medalist, a Hollywood actress, author, “Sports Illustrated” swimsuit model and pro wrestler, among things. She’s always a bit of an MMA superstar, if you didn’t remember.

After a year away from the sport, Ronda Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) – one of the biggest stars in UFC history – returns to pay-per-view for a title fight with reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes (13-4 MMA, 6-1 UFC) at UFC 207.

The fight, which takes place Dec. 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, is Rousey’s first since a crushing title loss to Holly Holm in November 2015. The ex-champ largely fell out of the spotlight following the second-round head-kick knockout. UFC champ Conor McGregor has shouldered much of the promotional load in her absence, but Rousey was something special for the sport: a crossover star who brought hordes of new fans to MMA.

At UFC 207, Rousey, who’s No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA women’s bantamweight rankings, takes on No. 1-ranked Nunes and looks to rebound from her first career loss. Before that defeat, Rousey was a wrecking machine who won her first 12 fights – all via stoppage, and 11 in the first round.

Check out the video preview above as we look back on a one-of-a-kind career and Rousey’s long-anticipated return to the UFC octagon.
