UFC 206 staff picks: Is anyone picking Anthony Pettis to halt Max Holloway's momentum?

The UFC’s second of back-to-back shows goes down Saturday with a pay-per-view return to Toronto.

UFC 206 takes place at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event, Max Holloway (16-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) meets Anthony Pettis (19-5 MMA, 6-4 UFC) with an interim featherweight title on the line – but only for Holloway since Pettis missed weight for the fight. The winner originally was expected to move on to meet Jose Aldo, who was elevated from interim champ to full titleholder status when dual-division champion Conor McGregor had his featherweight belt stripped.

Even though Pettis is a former lightweight champ, Holloway is a 2-1 favorite thanks largely to his current nine-fight winning streak. And all of our 10 MMAjunkie editors, writers and radio hosts are picking the Hawaiian to beat “Showtime” Pettis in the headliner.

In the co-feature, Matt Brown (20-15 MMA, 13-9 UFC) and Donald Cerrone (31-7 MMA, 18-4 UFC) meet in a welterweight fight that on paper seems to have “Fight of the Night” slugfest written all over it. Cerrone nearly is a 3-1 favorite, and eight of our 10 pickers are taking “Cowboy” over “The Immortal.”

Also on the main card, Dooho Choi (14-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) meets Cub Swanson (23-7 MMA, 8-3 UFC) in a featherweight bout. Choi will be trying to stay perfect in the UFC, and he’s more than a 2-1 favorite. He also has seven of our 10 staff members picking him to get his hand raised.

Kelvin Gastelum (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) moves up to middleweight after a botched weight cut for a fight with Cerrone at UFC 205 and meets Tim Kennedy (18-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC), who returns after an absence of more than two years. Our staffers are right down the middle at 5-5. And to open the main card, Jordan Mein (29-10 MMA, 3-2 UFC) returns after a retirement that lasted nearly two years to meet Emil Meek (8-2-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at welterweight. Meek, a UFC newcomer, has a slight 6-4 edge in our picks.

In the MMAjunkie reader consensus picks, Holloway, Cerrone, Choi, Kennedy and Mein are the choices.
