Leave it to Nate Diaz to get suspended until April 20.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission today released medical suspensions stemming from the pay-per-view event at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena.
In a twist that’s so MMA, Diaz gets free on 4/20 following his bloody second-round submission of UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor.
No doubt, the 30-year-old Stockton, Calif., native will celebrate after suffering a bad laceration during the fight. Although his older brother, Nick Diaz, gets all the press for his marijuana use, Nate isn’t exactly a stranger to the plant.
Diaz delivered his most significant victory to date by tapping out McGregor, who managed to escape without a suspension.
In other notable suspensions, Ilir Latifi needs a doctor’s clearance or faces six months from a possible toe injury following his win over Gian Villante. Siyar Bahadurzada and Brandon Thatch both face six-month terms after Bahadurzada’s third-round submission, with the Afghani fighter possibly suffering a jaw injury and Thatch’s left foot needing examination.
