Check out the official 13-bout lineup and extended video preview for UFC 196, the organization’s next pay-per-view event.
The show, which takes place on Super Bowl weekend, is slated for Feb. 6 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The main event features a rematch between heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum (20-5-1 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and former titleholder Cain Velasquez (13-2 MMA, 11-2 UFC). It’s an immediate rematch for both fighters, who headlined UFC 188 this past June, when Werdum earned a third-round submission victory.
Werdum and Velasquez, who are respectively No. 1 and No. 2 in the MMAjunkie/USA TODAY Sports MMA heavyweight rankings, are the subjects of the extended video preview above.
Also on the main card, No. 2 welterweight and former champ Johny Hendricks (17-3 MMA, 12-3 UFC) meets No. 13 Stephen Thompson (11-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) in the co-headliner, No. 13 heavyweight Roy Nelson (20-12 MMA, 7-8 UFC) takes on No. 15 Jared Rosholt (14-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC), No. 8 light heavyweight Ovince Saint Preux (18-7 MMA, 6-2 UFC) meets Rafael Cavalcante (12-6 MMA, 1-3 UFC), and No. 2 flyweight Joseph Benavidez (23-4 MMA, 10-2 UFC) meets No. 10 Zach Makovsky (19-6 MMA, 3-2 UFC).
In the featured FOX Sports 1-televised prelim, welterweight Josh Burkman (27-12 MMA, 5-7 UFC) takes on K.J. Noons (13-8 MMA, 2-2 UFC).
And in the featured UFC Fight Pass prelim, Mickey Gall (1-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) meets welterweight Michael Jackson (0-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC). If victorious, Gall gets a shot at former WWE wrestler Phil “CM Punk” Brooks (0-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC).
