The UFC’s light-heavyweight division has long been a marquee weight class for the organization. At UFC 192, however, the division features yet another title bout with one athlete coming off a loss.

Earlier this year, it was champ Daniel Cormier (16-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) whk competed for the gold after a defeat, and on Saturday at Houston’s Toyota Center, it’s Alexander Gustafsson (16-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC) who gets a chance at 205-pound gold despite losing his most recent contest.

Cormier is 3-1 since he dropped to the UFC light-heavyweight division in February 2014.

Cormier has earned all three of his UFC light-heavyweight victories by stoppage.

Cormier holds the record for the most victories (eight), knockouts (four) and significant strikes landed (305) in the history of the now-defunct Strikeforce heavyweight division.

Gustafsson enters the event after he suffered the first knockout loss of his career, against Johnson at UFC on FOX 14 in January.

Gustafsson’s six stoppage victories in UFC light-heavyweight competition are tied for third most in divisional history behind Jones (nine) and Chuck Liddell (nine).

Gustafsson earned five stoppage victories in UFC light-heavyweight competition faster than any fighter in divisional history. He accomplished the feat in just six bouts.

Gustafsson’s 41-second knockout of Jared Hamman at UFC 105 stands as the second-fastest knockout by a debuting modern UFC light heavyweight. Ryan Jimmo holds the record for his seven-second knockout of Anthony Perosh at UFC 149.

Hendricks and Lawler attempted 728 significant strikes at UFC 171, the second most ever in single UFC bout. Cole Miller and Nam Phan hold the record for 788 significant strikes attempted at UFC on FOX 4.

Hendricks’ 158 significant strikes landed against Lawler at UFC 171 stand as the most ever in a UFC title bout.

Northcutt, 19, is the youngest active fighter on the UFC roster and youngest of the 26 fighters scheduled to compete at the event.

Northcutt, 19, will become the third youngest fighter to ever debut with the UFC. Only Dan Lauzon and Sean Daugherty were younger for their respective UFC debut.
