UFC 169 Attendance and Live Gate

UFC 169 Barao vs Faber Poster

It wasn’t the most stellar night of fights in UFC president Dana White’s eyes, but UFC 169: Barão vs. Faber II still managed to draw an attendance of 14,308 people to the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on Saturday night.

The crowd accounted for gate receipts totaling $1.651 million, according to White.

White was disappointed with what most deemed an early stoppage in the main event bantamweight championship battle between titleholder Renan Barão and challenger Urijah Faber.

He also wasn’t a fan of the record-setting 10 fights that were left in the hands of the judges, nor was he pleased with Alistair Overeem’s “crappy performance” despite his victory over Frank Mir.

There was a white-hot moment for the UFC president, however, the pay-per-view opening bout between Abel Trujillo and Jamie Varner. The two battled back and forth, each nearly knocking the other out at various points, until Trujillo finally did knock Varner out midway through round two.

Trujillo and Varner earned Fight of the Night honors, each netting a $75,000 bonus for the award. Trujillo also scored an additional $50,000, as he earned the Knockout of the Night bonus.
