UFC 167 start times, fight card, TV info, fan and media events, video preview


After a two-event week for the UFC, it’s once again Fight Week for the UFC with one the most historic shows in the company’s history: UFC 167, which serves as the promotion’s 20th anniversary show.

Here’s the essential information for the card.

UFC 167 START TIME: UFC 167 takes place Saturday at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The event kicks off with three prelims on MMAjunkie.com (as well as Facebook and Youtube) at 6:45 p.m. ET (3:45 p.m. PT), followed by four more prelims on FOX Sports 1 (8 p.m. ET) and the five-fight main card at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view.

UFC 167 BACKGROUND: In June, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (24-2 MMA, 18-2 UFC) was first attached to a title defense against top contender Johny Hendricks (15-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) in Las Vegas in what would wind up being the UFC’s 20th anniversary show. Soon after, UFC President Dana White said the anniversary show could have been a superfight between then-middleweight champ Anderson Silva and light heavyweight champ Jon Jones at Madison Square Garden had New York legalized MMA earlier in the year. After his win over Mauricio Rua in March, Chael Sonnen (29-13-1 MMA, 7-6 UFC) began campaigning for the co-main event slot on the card against Wanderlei Silva. He’ll coach “TUF: Brazil 3? soon against Silva, but he’ll meet former light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans (18-3-1 MMA, 13-3-1 UFC) at UFC 167 instead.

UFC 167 OPEN WORKOUTS WEDNESDAY: UFC 167's open fighter workouts take place Wednesday and are free and open to the public. They kick off at 1 p.m. PT and include St-Pierre, Hendricks, Evans, Sonnen, Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler. The workouts take place at Hollywood Theatre inside the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. UFC 167 NEWS CONFERENCE THURSDAY: All 10 fighters on the main card – St-Pierre, Hendricks, Evans, Sonnen, MacDonald, Lawler, Josh Koscheck, Tyron Woodley, Tim Elliot and Ali Bagautinov – will be on hand for a news conference that is free and open to the public. Doors open to fans at 12:30 p.m. at Hollywood Theatre at MGM Grand and the press conference starts at 1 p.m.

UFC 167 NEWS FAN, COMMUNITY EVENTS: The UFC has a community event planned for Tuesday at Three Square in Las Vegas. In addition, watch the UFC’s official Twitter account for additional announcements of fan events and contests during Fight Week in Sin City.

UFC 167 WEIGH-INS ON FRIDAY: Friday’s UFC 167 fighter weigh-ins take place at MGM Grand Garden Arena. You can watch a live video stream or get text-only results beginning at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT). We’ll also have a video replay and full photo gallery available afterward. The weigh-ins are free and open to the public, with doors opening at 3 p.m. PT.
