Former Strikeforce title challenger Tyron Woodley (12-2) made it two wins in three UFC outings with a Knockout of the Year contending finish over Josh Koscheck (17-8) at UFC 167 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The finish came at 4:38 of round one as Koscheck came forward and walked straight into the right hand of Woodley dropping like a sack of potatoes. Woodley was in control of the fight for much of the opening round and at one point it seemed that he had Koscheck out after vicious ground and pound after he buckled the welterweight with a left hand.
The loss was Koscheck’s third in a row and, at 35 years of age, the question must be asked whether he will step back into the Octagon again?
Following the fight, Woodley pleaded with UFC officials to award him the Knockout of the Night bonus with Christmas just around the corner.
