UFC 164 bonuses: Pettis, Mendes, Lim, Krauss win $50,000

hyun-gyu-lim-pascall-krauss.jpgMILWAUKEE – Anthony Pettis, Chad Mendes, Hyun Gyu Lim and Pascal Krauss each earned $50,000 bonuses for their performances at Saturday’s UFC 164 event.

Pettis earned the “Submission of the Night,” Mendes won “Knockout of the Night” and Lim and Krauss picked up “Fight of the Night” honors.

UFC officials announced the winners at the night’s post-event news conference, which MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) attended.

UFC 164 took place at Bradley Center in Milwaukee. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and Facebook.

Pettis (17-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) became the new lightweight champion when he caught Benson Henderson (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) with an armbar late in the first round. Henderson didn’t even have a chance to tap – he had to verbally submit to the hold after being caught.

In the middle of the main card, Mendes (15-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) became the first fighter to stop Clay Guida (30-14 MMA, 10-8 UFC) with a knockout, getting a TKO stoppage in the third round for his fourth straight win. The victory puts Mendes closer to another potential title shot.

Lim (12-3-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and Krauss (11-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) traded heavy punches right away in the fight. But unfortunately for Krauss, it was Lim who landed the better shots. He picked up a first-round TKO victory and his first UFC bonus.
