UFC 162 play-by-play and live results

LAS VEGAS – MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) is on scene and reporting live from today’s UFC 162 event.

The event, which features middleweight champion Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman, takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and Facebook.

WELTERWEIGHTS: DAVID MITCHELL (12-3 MMA, 1-3 UFC) VS. MIKE PIERCE (17-5 MMA, 9-3 UFC)

Round 1 – Referee Steve Mazagatti in the cage for the night’s first contest. Pierce leaps forward with a few jabs and moves immediately into a clinch. Mitchell defends well against the cage. Grinding fight for position before Mitchell circles off the cage. Crowd not liking the early pace. Pierce counters again, and as they spin and spin, they finally pull away. Pierce with a solid right on the restart. Mitchell looks stunned but recovers quickly. Back into the clinch again. Mitchell works in a few knees as they continue to look for control inside. Pierce answers with a few of his own. Mitchell punches the body, as well. Mitchell continues to defend the takedown against the cage. With less than a minute, they break again. Pierce with a stiff kick to the leg before moving back in yet again. Round ends in the clinch. Mitchell has a word with Mazzagatti as he walks back to the corner. MMAjunkie.com sees it for Pierce, 10-9.

Round 2 – Pierce walks forward with jabs and moves back into the clinch. Mitchell defends against the cage. Mazagatti heckler starts yelling at the ref as the two fighters work agains the fence. Pierce finally backs away but is quickly back inside. Mitchell’s defense is strong, but he’s struggling to offer up any offense at all. They continue to fight inside, and they open up with punches as they break. Pierce lands a left hook inside, and Mitchell falls. WELTERWEIGHTS: SETH BACZYNSKI (18-10 MMA, 4-3 UFC) VS. BRIAN MELANCON (7-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC)

Round 1 – Referee Yves Lavigne in the cage for the night’s final Facebook-streamed contest. Melancon with a nice left to start. Baczynski backs away and tries to establish the big reach advantage, but Melancon is pushing in well to start. Melancon woks the body and then scores again with a left up top. Baczynski backs away again. Straight right for Baczynski scores. Baczynski is bleeding over his right eye. Kicks traded. Baczynski moves in, and another counter left from Melancon sends his opponent to the floor. Baczynski recovering quickly as Melancon looks to finish. Baczynski gets his legs high, and Melancon backs away. Baczynski turns up the volume. He’s reaching a bit as he tries to push the pace. They move to the center, and Melancon scores a takedown. Final minute. Baczynski tries to crawl up, but Melancon pushes him to the floor. He settles on top. Melancon moves to his feet, and the round ends with him striking a downed Baczynski. LIGHTWEIGHTS: EDSON BARBOZA (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) VS. RAFAELLO OLIVEIRA (15-6 MMA, 2-5 UFC)

Round 1 – Referee Herb Dean in the cage as the action moves to FX. Barboza with an early low kick as he looks to stay away. Oliveira trying to push inside. He reaches with a right to the body that misses. Barboza chops the legs twice. Barboza holding the center and chopping away with his legs and feet. Barboza with sharp uppercuts as Oliveira tries to push inside for a takedown. He shoots on a leg, and Barboza simply turns and pulls away. Barboza stuffs another takedown and then lands a spinning kick to the body. Halfway mark of the first. Oliveira struggling to get inside on takedown as Barboza just pushes him away. Barboza continues to punish the leg. Right hand scoring, and Oliveira’s left cheek is busted up. Oliveira ties the body but can’t do anything with the position. Barboza chops the leg again, and Oliveira is hurting. Barboza continues to attack the lead leg, and Oliveira limps to the corner at the bell. MMAjunkie.com gives it to Barboza, 10-9.

Round 2 – Barboza kicks the body and then the leg. He catches a low kick and scores a right that sends Oliveira to the floor. He’s slow to rise as Barboza backs away. On the restart, Oliveira gets inside, but Barboza just pushes him away and resets. Barboza is faster, stronger and more accurate. Barboza leg kick drops Oliveira. He gets up, but he’s limping, and blood is pooling on the joint. Another leg kick drops Oliveira, and Dean steps in. Oliveira immediately rolls over, wincing in pain. RECAP: Edson Barboza def. HEAVYWEIGHTS: GABRIEL GONZAGA (15-7 MMA, 10-6 UFC) VS. DAVE HERMAN (21-6 MMA, 1-4 UFC)

Round 1 – Referee Kim Winslow in the cage for this heavyweight matchup. Herman with a few early front kicks. Gonzaga walks through the feeling blows and lands a right hand to the chin that sees Herman topple to the floor. Gonzaga jumps on top and finishes the job with four clean shots to the face before Winslow pulls him off. RECAP: Gabriel Gonzaga def. Dave Herman via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 0:17.

LIGHTWEIGHTS: NORMAN PARKE (18-2 MMA, 2-0 UFC) VS. KAZUKI TOKUDOME (12-4-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC)

Round 1 – Referee Steve Mazzagatti on the cage. Quick exchange early, and Parke scores with a left hand. Both fighters working kicks in the early going. Southpaw trading jabs, as well. Overhand left sores for Parke. Tokudome moving in but is hit by another strong left. He looks unfazed, but he’s eating some early shots. Parke very active early, and he’s changing levels. Parke kicks the legs. Tokudome drops for a shot, but Parke stuffs it and turns him to the fence. Parke scores a takedown, but Tokudome pops right back to his feet. Parke stays ties to the body, but Tokudome reverses position in a smooth scramble and sets up in top position with less than two minutes remaining. Parke keeps his opponent tight and scores a few short elbows. Parke rolls to the right and looks for a kimura setup. Tokudome pulls free and briefly reverses by securing the wrist, but Parke pulls free and scores a slick sweep that sees him move to top. SIde control in the final seconds. Tokudome turns to his knees at the bell. MMAjunkie.com gives the first to Parke, 10-9.

Round 2 – Low kicks again to open, but Parke scores a stiff left hand. He kicks the thigh, and both fighters flurry. Parke again gets the best of it. Big left hand scores, and Tokudome is wobbled. Still, he stands in the pocket. Parke blasts away. He’s landing, but Tokudome showing an incredible chin. High kick scores for Parke, as does a straight left. Tokudome taking incredible punishment. He’s returning fire but not finding the target. Parke patient and avoiding making any mistakes while hunting for the knockout. He drops in for a takedown. Tokudome quickly gets his back to the cage and then crawls up to his feet. He backs away and lands a right hand and launches a flying knee. Parke slips it and scores a driving takedown. He’s in mount, but Tokudome pushes over and to his knees. Final minute of the round. Tokudome rises and moves forward, only to eat a knee to the body. One more left before the bell for Parke, and he takes the round on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9.

Round 3 – Tokudome moves forward again at the bell, and punches are traded in the pocket. Parke still the more accurate striker so far. Parke looks for a single-leg, but Tokudome reverses the action and scores a trip. However, he can’t control Parke, who gets to his knees and controls from the front headlock. They move up to the feet. Parke pushing in from the outside. Corner calls for more punches. His volume is slowing a bit. He looks for a takedown, but it’s Tokudome who shows balance and twists to move to top position. He can’t hold it, as Parke pushes up and moves to the feet, where they reset. Leg kicks traded. Tokudome has a high kick graze the top of the head and then follows with a a flurry of punches. He drives in on a big takedown, but Parke pops back up to his feet. Parke backs away. Parke still finding success with straight punches, but Tokudome is having his best round of the fight. Late scramble in the final seconds. Bell sounds, and Parke puts his hands in the air. MIDDLEWEIGHTS: ANDREW CRAIG (9-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) VS. CHRIS LEBEN (22-10 MMA, 12-9 UFC)

Round 1 – Referee Yves Lavigne in the cage for the night’s final prelim. Leben moves quickly forward, and they trade low kicks. Leben looks to have some spring in his step, and he pushes inside for a takedown. Craig defends against the cage, ad they trade strikes inside. Leben continues to stay tight and punch to the body. Craig answering with knees, and they break apart. Leben dives in with a big overhand left that misses. Still can’t get the takedown, so he backs away. Leben walking forward with big shots. He doesn’t land flush, but he scores with a few and avoids any significant counters. He pushes inside again and looks to work from the clinch. They separate only briefly, striking before they move back inside. Craig pulls away again. He ladns a low kick as Leben walks forward. Craig lands to crisp punches, and Leben wobbles a bit. They reset in the center, and Leben is a little more cautious as he advances. Craig looking to retreat and counter. Leben works inside yet again. He briefly wraps the body, but Craig turns in. Leben peppers the body before the break. Craig shoots for a takedown that’s stuffed. Round ends there. MMAjunkie.com gives it to Leben, 10-9.

Round 2 – Craig continues to retreat and look for the counter. Leben drives through it and moves inside yet again. Lavigne letting them work in the clinch. Craig doing well in the position, but Leben staying busy and holding the outside. They break, and Craig scores with a short left. Leben again moves into a clinch. Craig seems to be having success in the brief exchanges in the middle, yet he’s sticking to the gameplan of backing away and looking to counter. Halfway mark of the fight. Both fighters exchanging punches and leg kicks. Leben all heart, but Craig looks the quickest fighter. Still, he’s not racking up points. Instead, it’s a grinding fight that sees Leben as the one walking forward. Round ends. MMAjunkie.com sees the second for Craig, 10-9.

Round 3 – Leben with a low kick to start. He presses in, and he eat sa few knees. He’s throwing punches, but Craig is the one to connect flush. Craig flurries. Leben hurt and hits the deck, but he crawls back to the feet and brings the crowd to life. Craig pressing against the fence. Leben looks exhausted, but the crowd chants his name. He moves forward, but he’s too tired to capitalize. Craig pushes away and resets in the center. Craig again making Leben chase. He pushes Leben to the floor and drops own to take top position. Leben creates some space and gets to his feet yet again. Leben continues to walk forward, but he’s missing with his strikes. Craig counters and then scores another takedown. Final minute. Craig controlling the positioning. Still, Leben walks up yet again. As he pushes ahead, Craig answers with another takedown. FEATHERWEIGHTS: DENNIS SIVER (21-9 MMA, 10-6 UFC) VS. CUB SWANSON (20-5 MMA, 5-1 UFC)

Round 1 – Referee Herb Dean in the cage for the night’s first pay-per-view contest. Swanson with an early low kick, and Siver answers to the body. More kicks traded. Much of the early counter punches missing, but Siver lands the first solid shot. Still, it’s a good pace to start. Right hand for Swanson, and he launches a spinning high kick. Siver moves into the strike and pushes Swanson to the floor. Half-mount for Siver. He advances to side control and knees the body. Short left hands come in as Swanson looks to scramble for a better position. Siver stays firm in side control and drives in a few elbows. Swanson looks to escape, and Siver briefly moves to mount. Final minute of the round. Swanson wraps the neck and uses it to get back to his feet. He lands a low kick before the bell, but it’s Siver’s round on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9.

Round 2 – Swanson stalking from the outside. He misses on a punch. Siver working the kicks, including a spinning shot to the body. Swanson standing in the pocket, but Siver is doing well at keeping him away. Siver sips a punch and looks for a takedown but has to back away. Swanson misses on a spinning capoeira kick. Siver remains the busier fighter. Swanson seems to be having a little trouble finding a rhythm. He misses on a spinning high kick. Swanson with a low kick that scores. Another follows, and he punches the body. Swanson with a sharp uppercut. Siver drops in for a takedown, but Swanson with an incredible reversal and winds up in mount. Less than a minute in a thrilling moment. Siver trying to escape, but Swanson stays firm in mount. Swanson turns for a submission in the final seconds. It doesn’t come, but Swanson takes the round on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9.

Round 3 – Big momentum shift to close the second. Siver lands an early left to open the third. Swanson answers back with a high kick. Nice right scores for Swanson. Siver slowing a bit, but he’s trowing with power. Swanson punctuating his shots verbally. Swanson with a right to the body. Swanson slips a jab an scores with a right. Punches traded in the pocket. Swanson brimming with confidence, and he unleashes. Siver answers back, but he eats a heavy right hand and hits the canvas. Swanson attacks with punches and hammerfists. Dean lets it go with Siver’s legs seemingly pushing away, but Siver is done. Swanson just stops punching, and Dean steps in. RECAP: Cub Swanson def. Dennis Siver via TKO (punches) – Round 3, 2:24.

MIDDLEWEIGHTS: TIM BOETSCH (16-6 MMA, 7-5 UFC) VS. MARK MUNOZ (13-3 MMA, 8-3 UFC)

Round 1 – Referee Steve Mazzagatti oversees this intriguing matchup. Boetsch takes the center and presses froward. He moves quickly into a takedown, but Munoz rolls over the top and pushes back to the feet. Boetsch stays tight and scores another takedown, but Munoz again back up quickly. They jockey in the clinch but eventually break away. Boetsch aggressive again in pressing inside behind a knee. Munoz drops levels and scores a takedown, seizing control. Boetsch with his back to the fence, and he crawls up. Munoz has the bodylock and briefly has the back before Boetsch rolls free. Munoz still stays tight, and another takedown follows. Boetsch tries to grab the neck. He turns it into a guillotine. Munoz rolls to relieve the pressure and works to his feet. Munoz rattling off punches on the restart. Boetsch looks to answer, and Munoz moves inside. They battle on the fence. Munoz pulls free and lands another combination. One more takedown attempt from Munoz at the bell, and MMAjunkie.com gives him the first, 10-9.

Round 2 – Boetsch looks to strike to open the second, but Munoz avoids any serious damage and again moves inside. They trade positions on the fence before Munoz pulls away. Boetsch scores a solid right and follows up with a clean left. Munoz counters with a slick takedown. Boetsch quickly turns to his knees, and Munoz looks to take the back. Boetsch defends well, but Munoz spins around to north-south and batters the body. Boetsch doesn’t like it and moves up to his feet. Munoz quickly brings him back to the floor. Munoz again moves around to the front and lashes right hands to the ribs. Boetsch gets again to the feet before Munoz drags him back down and tees off again on the body. Right hands thudding the torso. Boetsch gets his back to the cage, but Munoz drives knees to the chest before the bell. MMAjunkie.com sees it again for Munoz, 10-9.

Round 3 – Boetsch lively enough to open. Munoz presses in again for a takedown. Boetsch grans the neck and tries again to roll into a guillotine. It’s not there, but he threatens with a few variations. Munoz pulls free, but he winds up in trouble again when he reengages. Boetsch tries again to attack the neck then switches out to the arm. Munoz waits it out and then pops out the back before raining down hammerfists. Boetsch turtles up and defends, but Munoz is ruthless with the strikes. Boetsch active on his back and looking to turn for a leg. Munoz slips out and isolates the left arm. He wants a kimura but can’t quite turn it around. Forced to let go, Munoz resumes the strikes from the top. Boetsch gives up the back, and Munoz briefly looks like he’ll have a rear-naked choke. Boetsch survives but takes more punches for his trouble. All heart from Boetsch, but Munoz in total control. Incredible leaping punches to close the fight for Munoz. He takes the final round on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-8, and earns the fight 30-26. RECAP: Mark Munoz def. Tim Boetsch via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 29-28).

MIDDLEWEIGHTS: ROGER GRACIE (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) VS. TIM KENNEDY (16-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC)

Round 1 – Referee Kim Winslow in the cage. Gracie walks forward as Kennedy kicks the legs from the outside. Brazilian crowd quickly chants in support of Gracie, who pushes inside and gets a takedown. Kennedy gets to a knee, but Gracie is tied to the body. Kennedy rises to his feet and gets off the cage. He pulls free and avoids a few long Gracie punches as they reset. Kennedy continues to chop the lead leg and try to stay out of the clinch. Gracie pushes forward and scores another takedown. Kennedy rolls to try and escape, and Gracie seizes the opportunity to take the back. Figure-four around the body, and the Brazilian chants resume. Gracie’s nose bleeding, but he’s controlling the positioning. Kennedy finally spins free and takes the top position, but the round ends before he can capitalize. MMAjunkie.com sees the round for Gracie, 10-9.

Round 2 – Kennedy kicks the leg to open. He chops away as Gracie moves forward. He can’t keep the distance, and Gracie scores a takedown. He tries to move to the back. Instead, it’s Kennedy he spins free and takes the dominant position. He doesn’t stay there long as Gracie rolls underneath and gets back up to his feet. Kennedy stays tight and tries to fight in the clinch. Gracie spins off the cage. Chants of “U-S-A” are met with Brazilian boos, but the fight moves to the floor, and Kennedy is again on top. Gracie works to guard underneath. He holds tight, and Winslow brings the fighters to their feet. Gracie looks exhausted as they rise. Kennedy misses with a leaping punch, and the fight finishes in the clinch. MMAjunkie.com sees the second for Kennedy, 10-9.

Round 3 – Kennedy again looks to kick from distance to start the third. Gracie looks frustrated and appears to have no answer right now. Kennedy moves inside but quickly backs away. Gracie pushes in and drops to a knee, looking for the takedown. His strength is gone, and Kennedy easily defends. A wave has broken out in the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Restless crowd. Winslow restarts them in the center. Kennedy lands a leaping right hand. He again kicks the leg. Final minute, and the crowd boos. Fight finishes in the clinch, ad it is not a barnburner. MMAjunkie.com sees the final round for Kennedy, 10-9, and gives him the fight 29-28. Not a particularly good showing by either fighter. RECAP: Tim Kennedy def. Round 1 – Referee Yves Lavigne oversees the night’s co-feature. Oliveira takes the center and kicks the body. He wants to use his length early. Edgar lands a crisp right that catches Oliveira’s attention. Oliveira moves inside, and they hit the deck. Oliveira tries to grab a leg, but Edgar pulls free, and they reset. Oliveira using his length, but Edgar is very aggressive and off to the quick start he wanted. The clinch up, and Oliveira falls to guard. Brazil chats fill the air, and Oliveira misses as he goes for an arm. Edgar pulls back, and they reset on the feet. Oliveira pumping a long jab. Edgar lands to the body. Right hand for Oliveira. Edgar pushes Oliveira to the floor, but he pops right back up. Crisp left for Edgar. Uppercut scores. Another trip for Edgar, and they back away. Edgar flurries and touches the chin again. Oliveira answers by pointing at his jaw and landing a long jab. Back to the floor, and Edgar is on top. Round ends there, and MMAjunkie.com gives it to Edgar, 10-9.

Round 2 – Edgar again quick to start. Oliveira giving chase, but Edgar moving in and out of range. Slapping low kick for Oliveira. He’s jabbing, as well. Edgar pushes him back to the floor and kicks the legs before Oliveira rises. They clinch up again, and Edgar scores another takedown. Oliveira turns for an arm. It’s not there, but Oliveira adjusts and locks the body triangle from underneath. Edgar with a few short punches. Elbows come in, as well. Oliveira breaks the grip and scrambles up. Oliveira’s nose bloodied. Edgar punching and moving well. Oliveira scores two straights. Oliveira just short on a front kick, and Edgar lands a left hand counter. His nose is bloodied, too. Edgar catches a kick and lands a counter. Oliveira misses a flying knee. He’s chasing. He lands a left hand. They trade in the pocket. Edgar scores a big takedown late and survives a choke attempt at the bell. MMAjunkie.com sees the second for Edgar, 10-9.

Round 3 – Edgar still moving well. Brazilian chants pick up to open the third. Stiff right scores for Edgar. He follows up, but Oliveira covers and shakes it off. Edgar picks the leg and pushes Oliveira to the floor but refuses to engage on the ground. Lavigne calls for Oliveira to stand. Oliveira takes the center. He lans a jab and a left hand that sees Edgar sagger. Knee scores, as do a few punches. Oliveira finally scoring. Edgar shakes it off. Edgar pushes Oliveira down again, but they return quickly to the feet. Edgar attacks, and Oliveira scores with a counter. Spinning kick misses for Oliveira. He pushes Edgar down but can’t get the position. Edgar land again, and Oliveira is wobbled. Edgar moves in. He’s bloodied, and the two are going toe to toe. Flying knee for Edgar. Right hand scores. Crowd is on their feet. Oliveira wants a takedown, but Edgar pushes him off and takes top position. Final minute. Oliveira going to need something special from the bottom. He drives in an elbow, but he’s not looking for a submission. Edgar backs away and drives in with a crushing right hand. Parke kicks the legs. Tokudome drops for a shot, but Parke stuffs it and turns him to the fence. Parke scores a takedown, but Tokudome pops right back to his feet. Parke stays ties to the body, but Tokudome reverses position in a smooth scramble and sets up in top position with less than two minutes remaining. Parke keeps his opponent tight and scores a few short elbows. Parke rolls to the right and looks for a kimura setup. Tokudome pulls free and briefly reverses by securing the wrist, but Parke pulls free and scores a slick sweep that sees him move to top. SIde control in the final seconds. Round 2 – Low kicks again to open, but Parke scores a stiff left hand. He kicks the thigh, and both fighters flurry. Parke again gets the best of it. Big left hand scores, and Tokudome is wobbled. Still, he stands in the pocket. Parke blasts away. He’s landing, but Tokudome showing an incredible chin. High kick scores for Parke, as does a straight left. Tokudome taking incredible punishment. He’s returning fire but not finding the target. Parke patient and avoiding making any mistakes while hunting for the knockout. He drops in for a takedown. Tokudome quickly gets his back to the cage and then crawls up to his feet. He backs away and lands a right hand and launches a flying knee. Parke slips it and scores a driving takedown. He’s in mount, but Tokudome pushes over and to his knees. Final minute of the round. Tokudome rises and moves forward, only to eat a knee to the body. One more left before the bell for Parke, and he takes the round on the MMAjunkie.com card, 10-9.

Round 3 – Tokudome moves forward again at the bell, and punches are traded in the pocket. Parke still the more accurate striker so far. Parke looks for a single-leg, but Tokudome reverses the action and scores a trip. However, he can’t control Parke, who gets to his knees and controls from the front headlock. They move up to the feet. Parke pushing in from the outside. Corner calls for more punches. His volume is slowing a bit. He looks for a takedown, but it’s Tokudome who shows balance and twists to move to top position. He can’t hold it, as Parke pushes up and moves to the feet, where they reset. Leg kicks traded. Tokudome has a high kick graze the top of the head and then follows with a a flurry of punches. He drives in on a big takedown, but Parke pops back up to his feet. Parke backs away. Parke still finding success with straight punches, but Tokudome is having his best round of the fight. Late scramble in the final seconds. Bell sounds, and Parke puts his hands in the air. He doesn’t land flush, but he scores with a few and avoids any significant counters. He pushes inside again and looks to work from the clinch. They separate only briefly, striking before they move back inside. Craig pulls away again. He ladns a low kick as Leben walks forward. Craig lands to crisp punches, and Leben wobbles a bit. They reset in the center, and Leben is a little more cautious as he advances. Craig looking to retreat and counter. Leben works inside yet again. He briefly wraps the body, but Craig turns in. Round 2 – Swanson stalking from the outside. He misses on a punch. Siver working the kicks, including a spinning shot to the body. Siver remains the busier fighter. Swanson seems to be having a little trouble finding a rhythm. He misses on a spinning high kick. Swanson with a low kick that scores. Round 3 – Big momentum shift to close the second. Siver lands an early left to open the third. Swanson answers back with a high kick. Nice right scores for Swanson. He moves quickly into a takedown, but Munoz rolls over the top and pushes back to the feet. Boetsch stays tight and scores another takedown, but Munoz again back up quickly. They jockey in the clinch but eventually break away. Boetsch aggressive again in pressing inside behind a knee. Munoz drops levels and scores a takedown, seizing control. Boetsch with his back to the fence, and he crawls up. Munoz has the bodylock and briefly has the back before Boetsch rolls free. Munoz still stays tight, and another takedown follows. Boetsch tries to grab the neck. He turns it into a guillotine. Munoz rolls to relieve the pressure and works to his feet. Munoz rattling off punches on the restart. Boetsch looks to answer, and Munoz moves inside. They battle on the fence. Munoz pulls free and lands another combination. One more takedown attempt from Munoz at the bell, and MMAjunkie.com gives him the first, 10-9.

Round 2 – Boetsch looks to strike to open the second, but Munoz avoids any serious damage and again moves inside. They trade positions on the fence before Munoz pulls away. Boetsch scores a solid right and follows up with a clean left. Munoz counters with a slick takedown. Boetsch quickly turns to his knees, and Munoz looks to take the back. Boetsch defends well, but Munoz spins around to north-south and batters the body. Boetsch doesn’t like it and moves up to his feet. Munoz quickly brings him back to the floor. Munoz again moves around to the front and lashes right hands to the ribs. Boetsch gets again to the feet before Munoz drags him back down and tees off again on the body. Round 3 – Boetsch lively enough to open. Munoz presses in again for a takedown. Boetsch grans the neck and tries again to roll into a guillotine. It’s not there, but he threatens with a few variations. Munoz pulls free, but he winds up in trouble again when he reengages. Boetsch tries again to attack the neck then switches out to the arm. Munoz waits it out and then pops out the back before raining down hammerfists. Boetsch turtles up and defends, but Munoz is ruthless with the strikes. Boetsch active on his back and looking to turn for a leg. Munoz slips out and isolates the left arm. He wants a kimura but can’t quite turn it around. Forced to let go, Munoz resumes the strikes from the top. Boetsch gives up the back, and Munoz briefly looks like he’ll have a rear-naked choke. Boetsch survives but takes more punches for his trouble. All heart from Boetsch, but Munoz in total control. Incredible leaping punches to close the fight for Munoz. Kennedy continues to chop the lead leg and try to stay out of the clinch. Gracie pushes forward and scores another takedown. Kennedy rolls to try and escape, and Gracie seizes the opportunity to take the back. Figure-four around the body, and the Brazilian chants resume. Gracie’s nose bleeding, but he’s controlling the positioning. Kennedy finally spins free and takes the top position, but the round ends before he can capitalize. Round 2 – Kennedy kicks the leg to open. He chops away as Gracie moves forward. He can’t keep the distance, and Gracie scores a takedown. He tries to move to the back. Kennedy stays tight and tries to fight in the clinch. Gracie spins off the cage. Chants of “U-S-A” are met with Brazilian boos, but the fight moves to the floor, and Kennedy is again on top. Gracie works to guard underneath. He holds tight, and Winslow brings the fighters to their feet. Gracie looks exhausted as they rise. Round 3 – Kennedy again looks to kick from distance to start the third. Gracie looks frustrated and appears to have no answer right now. Kennedy moves inside but quickly backs away. Edgar pushes Oliveira to the floor, but he pops right back up. Crisp left for Edgar. Uppercut scores. Another trip for Edgar, and they back away. Edgar flurries and touches the chin again. It briefly look like he has the knee, but Silva survives and returns to the feet. Silva walks around with his hands down. Weidman pushes in, and Silva just laughs as he lets himself ne punched. Silva’s hands on the waist. Silva waves a finger and starts to attack. Weidman jabs, and Silva asks for more. Silva chops the legs.He asks for Weidman to do the same.
