UFC 159 Bonuses: Pat Healy Pockets $130,000; Roy Nelson, Jim Miller Bank $65K

Pat Healy walked out of UFC 159 with an additional $130,000 in post-fight bonus money, as the Strikeforce veteran earned both “Submission of the Night” and “Fight of the Night” honors for his third-round finish of highly regarded lightweight Jim Miller.

Miller was awarded $65,000 for his part in the exciting bout, as was Roy Nelson, who picked up “Knockout of the Night” after felling Cheick Kongo early in their heavyweight affair. UFC 159 took place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and saw Jon Jones retain his light heavyweight title in a one-sided main event against Chael Sonnen.

Known for his superior resolve in addition to his excellent grappling skills, Healy found himself on the defensive early in his bout, weathering combinations from Miller and escaping a first-round armbar try. Rounds two and three belonged to Healy, however, as the veteran took Miller to the mat and eventually took his back, securing his first UFC victory with a rear-naked choke.

Nelson’s night proved far easier, as “Big Country” earned his 12th career knockout by dropping Kongo with a powerful overhand right just 2:03 into their main card bout. The 36-year-old has posted three straight knockouts since his February 2012 defeat at the hands of Fabricio Werdum, stopping Dave Herman and Matt Mitrione prior to his win over Kongo.
