Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Villefort
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Burrell
Round 2
Burrell is looking to take off Villefort’s head with hooks and
uppercuts early in round two, while Yuri seems content to counter
and land more chopping leg kicks. Burrell catches a kick and knocks
Villefort to the ground again, but again he turns his back and
nearly gets surprised by an attacking Villefort. Now it’s Burrell
landing some good counter hooks and body shots; his combinations
and particularly his right hands have Villefort looking red in the
face, breathing with his mouth open. Villefort swings and misses
with a pair of left hooks, lands the right hook behind them and
scores with a knee to the body. Burrell gives him a knee back and
clinches Villefort on the fence. They quickly separate and Burrell
hits Villefort with a hard outside leg kick. Burrell is ducking and
dipping out of the way of some wide punches from Villefort, who’s
now streaming blood from his nose. Burrell finishes the round
strong with a body-head combo.

Round 3
Villefort lands a leg kick inside and covers up under Burrell’s
counterpunches. Easy takedown goes for Villefort, who again looks
for a rear-naked choke from back mount. Burrell is able to sweep,
gets swept again, then hips out and gets to his feet. Burrell gets
off with a straight punch, but his next punch is ducked by
Villefort, who drives his man to the ground again. Rear bodylock
for Villefort and he drops underneath for a heel hook. Villefort is
cranking Burrell’s right leg as Burrell blasts him in the face with
unfettered left hands. Villefort takes about a dozen hard shots to
the face before finally letting go of the leg; Burrell keeps
punching until Villefort drives forward. Villefort leaves his neck
exposed when he drives and Burrell goes for a guillotine as they
stand up. He can’t get it, and Burrell is taken down again as
Villefort times a leg kick. Burrell is immediately back to his
feet, where he pushes Villefort’s face back with a kick before
adding on some punches. Villefort tries for one last takedown in
the waning seconds, then lets go and waves Burrell on. They finish
out the round swinging for the fences and the sparse crowd at the
Honda Center shouts their appreciation for a great opening
fight.

Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Magny
Round 2
Manley looks to press the action, moving in on Magny with punches
at the start of round two, but he’s being picked off by Magny’s
quicker punches again. Another shot on the fence and this time
Manley is able to get a quick takedown; he sets up in side control
but is soon swept by Magny, who drops a couple shots from the same
position before standing back up. They go right back to clinching
on the fence and Manley changes levels for another takedown
attempt. Magny fends him off and cracks Manley with a hard standing
elbow as they separate. Manley seems dazed as Magny chases him down
with punches and then lands a takedown of his own. Magny is
smothering his man, leaning from left to right and looking to pin
Manley’s arm for a crucifix. Manley uses the position to sweep and
get to his feet, where he immediately shoots another double against
the cage. Magny defends well and Manley goes to his knees as he
drives forward. As Manley goes to stand, Magny zaps him with a hard
right hand and takes him down. Manley goes from guard to turtle
position, his left side flush to the fence with Magny on his right,
landing punches and knees to the horn.

Round 3
The start of the previous round repeats, with Manley trying to
attack Magny and instead being countered in the exchanges. Now
Manley sticks a pawing left in Magny’s face and lands a right hand
behind it. Magny gets underneath a looping right hand and takes
Manley down again. He drops a few punches from standing position
before going down to Manley’s guard. Manley throws up his legs and
attacks Magny’s right arm, looking for an armbar. Magny stays
patient, stacks Manley up and extracts the limb, then goes back to
striking from on top. Magny mounts and slugs Manley with half a
dozen hard right hands before Manley is able to escape out the back
door. Magny defends yet another takedown attempt on the fence
before hitting one of his own just before the horn.

Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Stout
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Stout
Round 2
The lightweights clinch up almost immediately and begin jockeying
for position on the fence. Neither man gets the upper hand, and
they split, leaving room for Fodor to crack Stout with a big right
hand. Stout quickly comes back to clinch again, and they stall out
before separating again. Stout attacks the body with punches while
Fodor looks to counter over the top with straight shots. More hooks
to the body from Stout; Fodor trying to establish his jab and kicks
inside, but takes a harder leg kick in return. Nice left hook lands
for Fodor. He moves forward on Stout, lands another hook and an
inside leg kick. Stout wraps him up and puts him on the fence
again. Fodor gets away and starts pumping his jab again; it’s
working, but Stout denies him when Fodor changes levels for a
takedown attempt. Stout lands a knee to the body as he holds Fodor
on the cage, then another to the head. Fodor goes low and hits a
takedown just before the horn, then nearly gets swept as the close
round ends.

Round 3
More early clinching leads to a Stout takedown, but it doesn’t last
long. Fodor gets up and hits one of his own, though he has to work
to keep Stout’s legs underneath him and prevent the Canadian from
hitting the switch. Fodor keeps trying for the takedown until
midway through the round, when he stands back up to clinch and gets
reversed on the cage. They split with 1:45 left on the clock and
Fodor draws a deep breath as he walks forward on Stout. A right
hand lands for Fodor, followed by a left hook, and he tries an
inside trip which Stout blocks. Stout puts Fodor on the fence again
with an underhook as the last minute ticks away. Fodor lands a
couple knees to the body as they scoot around the outside, managing
to fend off Stout’s final takedown attempt to the horn.

Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Grice
Round 2
Bermudez gets caught off-balance and knocked to the ground as Grice
throws a left. Another left lands for Grice as Bermudez comes
inside and pushes him against the fence. Grice exits the clinch
with a knee to the body and Bermudez answers with a low kick.
Bermudez tries to grab the Thai plum and eats a right hand over the
top from Grice. Bermudez stumbles and has to carefully extract his
head from a loose brabo choke attempt. He stuns Grice with a left
hand and now Grice slows the pace with a double-leg attempt against
the fence. He gets it halfway through the round and works to secure
back-mount. Bermudez turns around and puts Grice against the fence
with underhooks. They split with just under two minutes left and
Grice is sporting a cut on his hairline. He snaps back Bermudez’s
head with jabs and stings him with another left hand when Bermudez
comes inside. Bermudez puts him on the fence and lands an elbow
before being reversed. Grice comes off the fence driving for a
takedown and nearly takes a knee to the face. Bermudez pulls guard
with a guillotine just before the horn and Grice flips over the top
at the horn.
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Grice
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Grice
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Grice
Round 3
Bermudez drops Grice with an uppercut and follows him down to drop
heavy ground-and-pound from top position. Bermudez is bashing away
with left hands and elbows from half-guard as his right arm
controls Grice’s left. Grice is trying to post and stand; he does
with about 80 seconds down in the round, but only after eating more
punches to the face. Grice swings blindly and desperately, trying
to get off the fence, but Bermudez has him sized up. Bermudez steps
back, then comes forward with more hooks and uppercuts, and Herb
Dean is hovering nearby now. Now Bermudez lands a knee to the body
and one to the face, but he makes a mistake throwing a high kick
that Grice is able to catch. The frantic pace slows as they clinch
on the cage, until Bermudez blasts Grice with another uppercut that
turns Grice around. Grice is somehow still on his feet, although
he’s taking heavy punishment from Bermudez, both to the head and
body now. Bermudez holds Grice on the fence with 45 seconds to go.
Grice pushes him off and lands a left hook, grabs underhooks and
shoves Bermudez off to land another left. Both men swing with tired
arm punches and Bermudez gets the final word with a front kick to
Grice’s midsection.

Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Kuivanen
Round 2
Kuivanen charges on Chiesa with punches, but Chiesa changes levels
and tries to reverse the momentum with a takedown. Kuivanen defends
well, spreading out on the cage and turning Chiesa around. Chiesa
tries to leap on Kuivanen’s back standing and simultaneously lock
up a rear-naked choke. Kuivanen wants to dive to the ground and
shake the “TUF” winner off, but it only helps Chiesa improve his
position and lock up a body triangle. Chiesa switches arms on his
RNC attempt, then switches back again to slip his right forearm
underneath Kuivanen’s chin. The eyes of Kuivanen go wide and the
Finn taps out before he’s put to sleep by the tight choke. Michael
Chiesa gets the submission victory at 2:29 of round two.

Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Schaub
Mike Whitman scores the round 10-9 Schaub
Round 2
Johnson denies a takedown from Schaub and makes the “Hybrid” pay
with punches to the body in the clinch. A pair of knees to the body
land for Johnson, but Schaub drives after the second one and puts
an off-balance Johnson on the ground. Schaub works to pass
half-guard while Johnson stays busy off his back with body punches.
Referee Jason Herzog warns Schaub to stay busy a few times before
standing them up midway through the round. Schaub misses a diving
takedown attempt and just dodges a big punch from Johnson on his
way back up. Schaub lands a knee in the clinch and eats a punch
before taking Johnson down again. Johnson is immediately throwing
double-handed strikes of his back as he closes his guard on Schaub.
The Honda Center crowd boos as the round enters its last minute and
Schaub passes to half-guard. Johnson is still throwing short,
ineffective punches from his back while Schaub tries to flatten him
out and posture up. The round ends with Schaub on top.

Round 3
Johnson is on his back again inside the first minute of the final
frame, though he lands a few punches on his way and bloodies up
Schaub around the left eye. Ref Herzog isn’t seeing enough activity
from Schaub on top and stands them up -- though Schaub tries to
give Johnson an extra punch or two after Herzog has intervened.
Back on the feet, Schaub quickly hits another takedown and sets up
in half-guard on Johnson’s right. He’s quickly warned by Herzog to
stay active, and Schaub obeys by stepping into full mount with just
under three minutes remaining in the fight. Schaub frames up an
arm-triangle choke, but he’s on the wrong side and lets it go. He
grabs it again, releases quickly. Johnson stuffs Schaub back to his
guard, creates some space with his legs and lands a couple hard
elbows. Schaub comes back to the ground and pins Johnson down as he
tries to escape. Johnson keeps throwing short punches off his back
for the final minute while Schaub mostly holds him down,
occasionally posturing up to throw a punch.

backs the aggressive McGee off with a right hand. McGee catches a
kick and Neer falls to the ground as he tries to dodge punches. Now
they clinch on the fence, McGee on the outside, and Neer gets him
away with an uppercut underneath. McGee blitzes him with punches
and steps back out to kick Neer’s legs some more. Neer backs up
McGee with three or four stiff jabs and keeps the straight punches
coming as he walks McGee down. McGee gets caught leaning with a
Neer headlock, quickly extracts his head. Neer lands a strong hook
to the body and puts McGee on the fence in the clinch to land a
knee. Neer lands his jab again but McGee answers with a hard left
cross and right hook. Neer attacks with right hands to the body.

welterweights trade body shots. McGee gets in on a high double-leg
and Neer scoots his back up the fence. McGee hits Neer’s body with
right hands and stays strong in the clinch as Neer tries an inside
trip. A straight right gets through for McGee, follow-up left
uppercut misses and he opts to take Neer to the ground. Neer goes
to stand and McGee tries to take his back, but Neer gets his back
on the fence. McGee goes for another high double-leg against the
fence and gets Neer down. Neer uses a long guard to try and push
McGee off; he does, but McGee comes back down by stepping into full
mount. Neer squirms out and gives up his back in a scramble. McGee

Henderson is still trying to wear away at the lead leg of Machida
with inside low kicks. Machida counters with a body kick that gets
the wrestler off balance. Machida just misses with a front kick to
the face and has to backpedal quickly as Henderson comes forward,
bombing with punches. A quick flurry of punches connects for
Machida, who gets out of the way of Henderson’s right-handed
counter. Henderson changes levels as he comes inside and eats a
knee for his trouble. The punches of Machida have marked up the
inside of Henderson’s right eye. He slips on a kick but pops right
back up. Machida is flicking out front kicks and timing the
forward-moving Henderson with knees to the body. Machida kicks at
Hendo’s lead leg and backs out of the way when Henderson’s comes
forward, showing takedown. Henderson is looking to knock Machida’s

Henderson’s back but taking elbows to the ribs in the process.
Henderson drops a short elbow and smothers Machida as Dean again
calls for work. Machida kicks out and escapes to his feet with just
under two minutes remaining. Henderson circles the outside, looking
for an opening for the right hand but not pulling the trigger as
Machida feints and dances in front of him. Machida slaps Hendo’s
face with a couple kicks, lands a right hand and steps out of the
