The UFC 156: Aldo vs. Edgar weigh-ins are in the books.
Featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar both made weight, making the main event title fight official. Challenger Edgar tipped the scales at 144 pounds. The champion weighed in at 145. Edgar, the former lightweight titleholdr, is making his featherweight debut in the UFC.
“I know he’s been a great champion for a while. I feel better than ever at 145. Nothing you want bad enough is going to be given to you, so I’m ready to take it tomorrow,” said Edgar after stepping off the scales.
“He’s a great fighter, but I’m going to be sending him back to his weight class,” said Aldo.
Former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira both weighed in at 206 for the co-main event.
Alistar Overeem and Antonio “Big Foot” Silva face off in a heavyweight grudge match. Overeem officially weighed in at 264, while Silva weighed in at 262.
UPDATE: Dustin Kimura weighed in at 139.5 pounds. He will not cut down to make 136, but will fight at 139.5 and be fined 20 percent of his fight purse.
Edwin Figueroa later weighed in at 136 pounds on his second attempt, while his opponent, Francisco Rivera, who was also overweight, tipped the scale at 135.5 on his follow up trip to the scale.
