UFC 153 Preliminary Bout TV Ratings Remain Steady with Recent Prelim Broadcasts

The UFC 153 TV ratings are in for Saturday night’s preliminary bouts on FX. The telecast drew an audience of 1,000,000 viewers, according to industry sources.

That number is in line with the past few UFC preliminary broadcasts on FX, and tops for the preliminary broadcasts for events from Brazil.

UFC 142 in January kicked off the FX preliminary broadcasts under the new television deal with the Fox family of networks, drawing 880,000 viewers. UFC 147 in June, also emanating from Brazil, drew 969,000 viewers.

UFC 147 was originally supposed to feature the rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen in a stadium in Brazil, but suffered through several changes, eventually settling in an arena with Wanderlei Silva vs. Rich Franklin as the main event.

Silva vs. Sonnen II was shifted over to UFC 148, and the prelims on FX benefitted from the move. There was such promotion and anticipation for the event that it trickled down to the tune of 1.8 million viewers for the preliminary bouts on FX.

UFC 148 currently stands as the highest draw for a preliminary bout broadcast on the network.
