UFC 150 Update: Lentz-Mitsuoka, Bermudez-Hayden, Hamman-Kuiper Booked for Aug. 11

The promotion announced Monday that verbal agreements are in place for a previously reported middleweight matchup between Jared Hamman and Michael Kuiper, as well as two new featherweight fights pitting Nik Lentz (Pictured) against Eiji Mitsuoka and Dennis Bermudez against Tom Hayden.

The bouts bolster the bill for UFC 150, which is topped by a lightweight title rematch between Benson Henderson and the man from whom he snatched the belt in February, Frankie Edgar.

Lentz, 27, will make the drop to 145 pounds after a lightweight stint which saw him compile an Octagon record of 5-2-1 with one no-contest. The Minnesotan wrestler will likely be fighting to keep his spot on the UFC roster, having dropped back-to-back bouts to Evan Dunham and Mark Bocek.

His opponent, 36-year-old Japanese vet Mitsuoka, started strong in his February UFC debut but was punched out in the second round by resurgent countryman Takanori Gomi. A wrestler and submission specialist, Mitsuoka’s 11-year career includes notable wins over Gleison Tibau, Joachim Hansen and Rodrigo Damm.

A finalist on the 14th season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” 25-year-old Bermudez came up short in the last round of the reality show and submitted to a second-round armbar from Diego Brandao. Bermudez got his first official UFC win May 5 when he took a unanimous decision over Pablo Garza at UFC on Fox 3.

Hayden, 26, hails from Indiana but fights out of Jorge Gurgel’s team in Ohio. The “Wild Card” suffered the first loss of his career in January after taking a short-notice UFC debut against Fabricio Camoes and submitting to a first-round rear-naked choke.
