UFC 150 is officially headed to Denver’s Pepsi Center and a new middleweight bout has been added to the rapidly growing card.
According to UFC officials who confirmed the fights with the Denver Post, Yushin Okami will look to get back on track after a tough loss in his last fight against Brazilian Luiz Cane.
A previously rumored fight between Thiago Tavares and Dennis Hallman was also confirmed for the Aug 11 show.
Okami will look to get back on the winning track after dropping two fights in a row. Following a defeat to UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva in 2011, Okami returned in his home country of Japan to face Tim Boetsch and just when it looked like he would coast to victory, he had it snatched away from him.
Boetsch came out guns blazing in the third and final round and ended up scoring a TKO on Okami. Now the Japanese fighter will look to erase the memories of his last two fights as he faces a tough Brazilian striker also looking to bounce back from defeat.
Luiz Cane, much like Okami, seemed like he was on his way to a win in his last fight against Stanislav Nedkov at UFC 134, but after getting the best of his opponent for most of their opening round, he ended up on the wrong end of a TKO.
Now Cane will hope to stave off UFC elimination after dropping 3 out of his last 4 bouts.
The UFC 150 card will land in Denver’s Pepsi Center on Saturday, Aug 11 with tickets going on sale June 15.
