UFC 146 Rakes $3.4 Million Live Gate from 14,674 Spectators in Las Vegas

UFC 146 earned a live gate of $3,428,775 and was attended by 14,674 spectators, according to Keith Kizer, executive director for the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Kizer informed Sherdog.com of the figures on Wednesday afternoon, noting that 11,428 attendees paid for their tickets, while 3,246 received complimentary admission. A total of 276 tickets went unsold, and the average paid ticket price was $300.03.

The May 26 event took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and was headlined by Junior dos Santos’ first defense of his heavyweight championship against former titlist Frank Mir. Dos Santos retained his belt in impressive fashion, knocking Mir down with a straight right hand and then finishing the job with a hard hammer fist in round two.

The all-heavyweight main draw also saw ex-champion Cain Velasquez earn a bloody technical knockout over Antonio Silva, as Velasquez badly lacerated “Pezao” with ground-and-pound en route to the first-round stoppage. Roy Nelson, Stipe Miocic and Stefan Struve also picked up wins by finishing Dave Herman, Shane del Rosario and Lavar Johnson, respectively.
