UFC 133: Evans vs. Davis Official for Aug 6, Tickets on Sale June 10

UFC 133 is official for August 6 in Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center with former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans taking on former NCAA champion wrestler Phil Davis in the main event.

The bout will be Evans first time back in the cage after more than a year away from the sport. The former Michigan State wrestler was awaiting his shot at then champion Maurcio ‘Shogun’ Rua, but then an injury befell him as well forcing him to wait for additional time.

Former NCAA champion Phil Davis returns home to Pennsylvania for the main event at UFC 133. The Penn State grad ruled State College, PA for several years while he was in their wrestling program, and now he returns home to try and take out a former champion.

Philadelphia last hosted a UFC event in August 2009 for UFC 101.

“The last time we were in Philly, the fans were incredible so we are excited to head back there with a card that features three former world champions,” UFC President Dana White said. “Phil is undefeated at 9-0 and has never been more motivated for a fight, and he wants to prove that he belongs atop the light heavyweight division. Rashad is on fire. He wants his title back so badly he can taste it, but he knows before he can get his title shot he has to get through Phil. He wants to win and he wants to win impressively. This is a great fight.”

Other fights announced for UFC 133 include former middleweight champion Rich Franklin getting back in action against Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in a light heavyweight clash. Both fighters are coming off losses, so motivation will be running high for their battle in Philadelphia.

Former middleweight title contender Vitor Belfort will also get back in action at UFC 133 when he faces Yoshihiro Akiyama in a fight at 185lbs on the main card.

Several other fights have been confirmed for the August card, and are expected to be made official by the UFC in the coming weeks.

Tickets for the August 6 show go on sale exclusively through Comcast TIX on Saturday, June 11 at 10 a.m. ET and range in price from $500 to $50.

UFC Fight Club members will have an exclusive pre-sale for the event on Wednesday, June 8 at 10 a.m. ET.
