The UFC 130 weigh-ins took place Friday afternoon at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Matt Hamill took over main event status when Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard both had to withdraw due to injury. Both Jackson and Hamill weighed in at 205 pounds on the nose.

There hasn’t been a lot of animosity leading up to this fight, but when Hamill said recently that he was looking to break Jackson’s will, it fired up the former UFC light heavyweight champion.

“That really motivated me to train extra hard,” Jackson told UFC commentator Joe Rogan after weighing in. “I was already training hard for Matt because it’s been a while since I knocked anybody out. I’m ready to put on a great show for you guys and get a knockout.”

Hamill comes into this fight the underdog. He’s not currently ranked in the Top 10, while Jackson has been entrenched in the Top 5. He knows what this fight means for him.

“It’s a big opportunity for me. Help me boost my career,” said Hamill. “I promise you one thing, it’s gonna be a good fight. Let’s do it.”

Co-main eventers Frank Mir and Roy Nelson, friends outside of the cage, both hit the scale at 260 pounds, which doesn’t often happen in a heavyweight bout. The winner likely moves into the No. 2 contender slot in the UFC heavyweight division.

Number four ranked welterweight fighter Thiago Alves, who has battled weight issues in the past, had no trouble on Friday, tipping the scale at exactly 170 pounds thanks to his nutritionist, Mike Dolce. He meets Rick Story, who also easily made weight, in a bout that has fireworks written all over it, at least if their intense staredown is any indication.

Former Sengoku middleweight champion Jorge Santiago and former WEC light heavyweight titleholder Brian Stann easily made weight for their middleweight showdown, which will open the UFC 130 pay-per-view broadcast.
